The successful candidate will possess strong technical skills and experience in the following areas: boundary, easement, right of ways, topo surveys, GPS RTK and Static surveys, design surveys, aerial mapping, and construction layout. We will consider candidates with no direct experience if they demonstrate interest in a long-term survey career, strong math skills, a hard work ethic and a desire to work outdoors.Pay is based on experience & qualifications:Survey Party Chief I (5-12 yrs): $27 - 32.25/hr.Survey Party Chief II (8-15 yrs): $31.20 - $37.45/hrSurvey Party Chief III (12-30 yrs): $36.40 - $41.60/hr SGM offers a generous benefits package to full-time employees including medical, dental, vision coverage, employer paid STD/LTD/Life, HSA/FSA plans, 401k employer match, parental leave, vacation & sick leave, 8 paid holidays, and incentive compensation bonuses. Benefits may be prorated for part-time employees. This position will be posted until filled but no sooner than three days from now. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with the client, the client's representative, and contractors
- Supervise field survey team
- Ensure team is properly equipped with personal protection equipment and following safety protocol
- Prepare field notes
- Follow local state and federal survey regulations
Job RequirementsQualifications:
- 5+ years of land surveying experience
- Valid Driver's License
- Physically capable of performing typical land surveying tasks including the ability to carry 50+ lbs. of survey gear through mountainous terrain
- Detailed understanding of coordinate systems
- Ability to work independently or as part of a crew
- Motivated problem solver
- Ability to work long hours when needed with occasional out-of-town travel
- Strong desire to live, work and play in Western Colorado
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Colorado LSI or PLS
- Experience as a Party Chief
- Civil 3D experience
- GIS experience
- Trimble software and hardware experience
- Diverse surveying experience with GPS and conventional surveying equipment including boundary retracement, construction staking, topographic mapping, and legal description preparation
