Overview Saiia Construction Company LLC, a MasTec company, is currently hiring for a Survey Technician to join our incredible team in Georgia. The Survey Technician is responsible for, but not limited to performing land surveys to measure land and other natural features to collect data used in creating topographical maps of project sites. Responsibilities Work with jobsite personnel to prepare the project site for surveying as needed. Unload survey equipment from vehicles to setup survey equipment and perform surveying then load all equipment into vehicles after surveying duties have been performed. Place grade stakes which might show point number, offset, station number, cut /fill and elevation, etc. at each survey point. Set up, adjust and operate survey equipment which might include: Total Station, Prism, Level, GPS base unit and Rover locate and set grade stakes based on plan horizontal coordinates and vertical elevations. Measures distances between specific survey points and records data so the data can be entered into surveying software programs to create topographical maps of project sites. Inspect, clean, and maintain equipment to ensure equipment remains in good working order. Replaces parts related to tools and equipment as necessary. Downloads digital images and data from survey equipment into surveying software programs. Observes excavating activities to verify conformance to stake references and notifies equipment operators or supervisor of deviations. Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications Knowledge of topographic surveys, Civil construction drawings, specifications, profiles, & details, construction surveying, construction layout for water, sewer, and storm drainage. Proficient with computer systems including MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Preferred - Strong understanding of surveying mathematics, data adjustment, surface models, analyzing quality of data, and processing data. Preferred - Basic understanding and proficiency utilizing AutoCAD. Must be detail oriented and can deal with problems involving several variables in non-standard situations. Must have excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal correspondence. Ability to prioritize tasks in accordance to urgency. Ability to work independently or within a team environment. Must be flexible to changes in work assignments daily as changes occur in project needs. Ability to use email, smart phone, tablet, or computer to manage company information and documents. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to work overtime as required.
