In this position, you will be responsible in assisting the Party Chief in location surveys, deed research, utility surveys, 811 locates, engineering surveys & construction stake outs for Division let, Spot Safety, TIP and other construction projects. You must be able to read highway plans. Additional duties include taking measurements, performing computations and performing other survey party duties as assigned by the Party Chief. You will operate a total station, GPS equipment, and be expected to calculate and set up road templates using a data collector. Must be able to process raw data files for importing into Geopak and ORD (OpenRoads Designer) for mapping. In this position, you should be familiar with engineering principles and surveying related policies, procedures and standards.

* Experience using surveying equipment, instruments, levels, data collectors and GPS equipment
* Experience analyzing and interpreting highway construction plans
* Experience with mathematical functions (i.e. algebra, geometry, and trigonometry)
* Experience in performing highway construction stakeouts
* Experience in conducting independent, moderately complex surveying
Additional Expectations:
Possess working knowledge of the principles and practices of Civil Engineering and construction methods, materials and equipment. Skill in the operation of survey equipment, computer terminals and drafting instruments. Ability to understand, contracts; interpret construction plans, provisions, standards and specifications. Communicate, establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, contractor's personnel and the general public. Will be exposed to high traffic volumes.

Associate degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of progressive technician level experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
