Job Description:
Under general supervision, conduct field interviews with Mexican origin adults in the Sacramento, Woodland, and surrounding areas. The interviews take 1 to 2 hours and include questions about sensitive topics such as sexual behavior and feelings of anxiety and depression. The interviews will be conducted in both Spanish and English so complete fluency in both languages is required. Responses to the interview questions will be recorded using iPadss. Before interviewing participants, you will participate in formal interviewer training, which will begin soon after you are hired. You will also assist project staff with other tasks, as described below.THIS IS A LIMITED APPOINTMENT POSITION WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION. LIMITED APPOINTMENTS HAVE LESS THAN A 1000 TOTAL WORK HOURS.Apply By Date October 2, 2024 at 11:59pm Qualifications Minimum Qualifications For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license, certification and/or educational degree if required of the position.
  • Experience working in the Latino/Mexican/Mexican-American communities.
  • Experience working independently with minimum supervision and a high level of productivity.
  • 100% Fluency (read, write, and speak) in Spanish and English. Ability to communicate fluently with Spanish-speaking adults.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact in a helpful, effective, tactful, and informative manner in person and on the phone.
  • Comfort asking personal questions about highly sensitive issues.
  • Planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills to anticipate and analyze complex information or problems in an objective manner; and to devise and implement changes to solve problems or resolve conflicts.
  • Time management and organizational skills to perform work accurately and in a timely manner; ability to meet urgent deadlines and maintain ongoing communication with all staff.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience conducting field interviews, home visits, and/or working with families under varying living conditions in a professional environment.
  • Understanding of social survey methodology, including in-person interviewing strategies, recruitment of research subjects, and ethical survey research practices.
  • Academic training or professional experience in the social sciences.

Work Environment
  • Valid California Driver's License, liability auto insurance, and reliable transportation to travel to Davis, Sacramento, Woodland, and the surrounding areas.
  • Work afternoon, evenings, and weekends.
