Job Description:
DNV Maritime Region Americas is seeking a Surveyor and Auditor to join our DNV New Jersey area location. As a fleet in service Surveyor, you will be a member of a highly qualified team of surveyors and auditors serving the maritime industry and various ship types (e.g., tankers, bulk carriers, containers) calling at ports on the US East Coast. This role is based at our DNV office in Newark, NJ, presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site. Further details regarding role-specific requirements will be shared during the interview process. What You'll Do Conduct surveys of ships in service to ascertain the condition of mechanically functioning hulls, machinery, and equipment to determine the condition and identify any corrective actions required for vessels to meet classification requirements.Ensure that the work or duties performed are in accordance with the Rules, Regulations, Instructions, Guidelines, and quality requirements of the organization and the instructions of the line management.Carry out surveys on-board vessels as part of Fleet in Service and work on-site during dry-dockings and vessel conversions.Exhibit customer-oriented focus through promoting DNV onboard or on-site and act as a technical resource for customer questions.Communicate to line management at the earliest appropriate opportunity if in receipt of information that is important to the reputation or integrity of the organization.Maintain the confidentiality of Clients' business, processes, designs, developments, and documentation at all times.Additional responsibilities may be required as needed. What is Required Preferable Bachelor's degree or higher in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and/or equivalent maritime qualifications.Preferable 2 or more years of Maritime industry experience.Must have a valid driver's license and be eligible to obtain a TWIC card to enter ports.Travel requirement of up to 30% of the year.Strong verbal communication skills.Physical abilities necessary to perform regular functions of the job: Climbing pilot ladders & in/out of tanks, flying, crew boat launches, voyage surveys.Empathy and problem-solving mindset towards our clients.Capable of effectively expressing opinions and resolving contentious issues sensitively and in a pragmatic manner.Be able to work individually and act as a team player with a positive attitude and willingness to collaborate across groups and other offices for shared goals and aims.Adaptable to change and comfortable with technology and digital tools.We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening. *Immigration-related employment benefits, for example, visa sponsorship, are not available for this position.*#J-18808-Ljbffr
