Surveyor AssociatePrint ( AssociateSalarySee Position DescriptionLocationToledo, OHJob TypeFull-TimeJob Number2023-00219DepartmentTransportationDivisionEngineering and Construction AdministrationOpening Date09/21/2023Closing DateContinuous+ Description+ Benefits+ QuestionsDescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:Under general supervision performs surveying office and field work/GPS data collection of moderate difficulty under the direction of a professional surveyor; performs related work as required.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:+ Obtains information for engineering construction plans and property surveys+ Oversees the work of and trains subordinate members of survey team as necessary+ Researches courthouse records and other documents in order to prepare right of way plans and legal descriptions+ Investigates and obtains necessary data and records required to perform field and land surveys+ Assists in preparation of Survey Section budget requests+ Sets up and operates all survey instruments and equipment as needed, including any other associated field work as necessary to complete required survey operations+ Prepares and maintains inventory records to assist in determining long-term needs in replacing surveying equipmentKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESKnowledge of:+ Surveying principles, practices and terminology.+ Instruments and equipment used in survey work.+ Microsoft Office products.+ CADD, COGO, GPS, and GISSkill in:+ Oral and written communications.+ Performing professional survey work+ Reading and interpreting construction plans+ Legal description preparation+ Training personnel.Ability to:+ Work with individuals of diverse backgrounds.+ Establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, peers, superiors, vendor representatives and clients.REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATIONS:Level 1: $35.89+ Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Surveying or Civil Engineering with at least 24 quarter hours or equivalent semester hours of approved surveying courses in surveying directly and mapping arts and sciences.+ Must possess a valid driver's license.Level 2: $37.68+ Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Surveying or Civil Engineering with at least 24 quarter hours or equivalent semester hours of approved surveying courses in surveying directly and mapping arts and sciences.+ Must possess a valid driver's license.+ Three (3) years of experience in surveying activities.Level 3: $39.50+ Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Surveying or Civil Engineering with at least 24 quarter hours or equivalent semester hours of approved surveying courses in surveying directly and mapping arts and sciences.+ Must possess a valid driver's license.+ Seven (7) years of experience in surveying activities.PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS:+ Registration as a State of Ohio Surveyor-in-Training preferredPHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described within this job description must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
