Ferroglobe has an immediate opening for a Mine Surveyor. The Mine Surveyor is responsible for providing accurate surveys for both underground and surface coal mining operations. This role ensures precise measurements for mining activities, providing essential data for mine planning, layout, and safety.

What you will do:

* Conduct surveys of underground and surface mining areas to collect data for mine planning and operations.

* Establish and maintain survey control networks for mining operations.

* Perform daily, weekly, and monthly surveys to monitor progress, including volume calculations and excavation measurements.

* Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to provide data for mine layout, planning, and safety protocols.

* Create detailed maps, plans, and survey reports to support mining activities.

* Maintain accurate records of surveys, including data on elevations, boundaries, and excavation progress.

* Perform calculations to determine volume of materials extracted or required for mining activities.

* Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements in all survey activities.

* Utilize GPS, total stations, and other survey instruments to collect data.

* Monitor ground stability and provide data for slope stability analysis.

* Assist with permit applications by providing necessary survey data.

* Maintain survey equipment and ensure proper calibration.

* Support other surveying activities as needed in line with mine requirements.

* Adhere to environmental and safety guidelines for mining operations.

* Courthouse deed research to determine property ownership and property description.

* Perform Groundwater User Surveys for mine permitting.

What we seek:

* Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Mining Engineering, or related field preferred but not required.

* Experience in surveying for mining operations, preferably coal mining (preferred but not required).

* Certification as a Professional Surveyor (preferred but not required).

* Knowledge of surveying principles and techniques for underground and surface mining.

* Familiarity with coal mining operations and related regulations.

* Proficiency in survey software and tools, such as AutoCAD, GPS, and total stations.

* Ability to read and interpret mining plans, maps, and engineering drawings.

* Strong mathematical skills for calculations and volume analysis.

* Good understanding of mine safety practices and regulatory compliance.

* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data collection.

* Strong communication and teamwork skills.

* Ability to work independently and solve problems in challenging environments.

* Possess or ability to obtain MSHA Impoundment Inspection Certification.
