TIG's work is supported by regional collaborations with The Nature Conservancy, who serves as Conservation Adviser to TIG's core timberland strategy in the U.S., and Conservation International, who serves as Impact Adviser to TIG's reforestation strategy in Latin America.
Position Overview
- TIG seeks a Sustinability Analyst to join our team in New York, New York, or Seattle, Washington.
- Reporting to the Associate Director, Sustainability, the Sustainability Analyst will play a key role in ensuring that TIG's operations meet high standards of sustainable practice across its global footprint while innovating new ways to deliver on the massive potential of forests to mitigate climate change, halt and reverse biodiversity loss, and supporting equitable rural development.
Responsibilities will include:
- Work with TIG staff, TIG investee companies, and external partners to ensure sustainability practices, standards and policies are understood and implemented across TIG's global operations.
- Conduct research on trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in sustainability and responsible investment.
- Together with TIG staff, partners, collaborators, and other stakeholders, assist in the development and implementation of sustainability projects and initiatives, ensuring timely execution and the delivery of targeted impacts.
- Assist in collecting environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data. Ensure that data is timely received and accurate.
- Translate ESG data into reports for stakeholders, including TIG staff and leadership, regulatory bodies, industry associations, clients, and other stakeholders. Prepare comprehensive reports highlighting key ESG metrics and progress.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, effectively communicating sustainability initiatives and performance. Assist in preparing presentations, reports, and other materials.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in environmental science, environemntal management, forestry, sustainability, or a related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills and an ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including investment committee members, clients, partners, and others.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team, to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and deliver against specific workplans and timelines.
- A creative, entrepreneurial spirit and an ability to thrive in a meritocratic workplace.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Passion for sustainability and responsible investment practices.
Preferred Knowledge and Experience
- 1-2 years of experience in investment analysis and/or management, including relevant experience in with natural resources or other real assets.
- Knowlede of forest management, natural resource investment, or related sectors.
- Portuguese or Spanish language ability.
