Program Summary: ADAC has a deep commitment to sustainable business practices and is seeking to accelerate growth by establishing a long-term Co-Op role. The role is planned to begin Winter semester (early January 2025) as part time to accommodate schooling and will transition into our companywide summer internship program, moving to full-time - and then back to part-time in the fall.In this role, you will apply the concepts you have learned in the classroom to actual business situations and scenarios. You will be able to build your resume, learn and grow in a real-world environment.The program features collaboration among ADAC professionals and fellow student interns during the Summer months. In addition to team-based community outreach and philanthropic initiatives, this program concludes with a final joint capstone project and presentation. The project requires you to apply your research, problem solving and innovation skills to understand and identify a solution to a specific and relevant company business opportunity or challenge.To complete the capstone, your program cohort will formally present your recommendations to ADAC's executive team. Position Summary:The Sustainability Co-Op will be responsible for assisting with overall data collection to calculate carbon footprint and analyze opportunities to continually improve processes in line with the company's objective of carbon neutrality. Essential Responsibilities:
Investigate feasibility of sustainability initiatives, resources needed, ROI and other elements of project management.Assist driving improvements in waste, water, air, biodiversity performanceSupport operations on implementing a zero-waste to landfill by finding outlets for materialAnalyze circular economy opportunitiesImplement Life Cycle Analysis for all programsConduct materiality assessmentsGather, track, and analyze data to capture and calculate scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.Utilize specialized software to streamline processes and develop reporting structuresUpdate and implement corporate policies to align with established frameworksInterface with each department to foster sustainability across the organizationCollaborate with suppliers to drive sustainability policies and manage their disclosure informationOther fun and engaging projects, yet to be determinedEducation & Experience: At least 2 years worked toward bachelor's degree, preferably towards sustainability management, Environmental Engineering or related field.At least 1 year of previous work experience with a standardized schedule.Previous internship in a business setting with time spent in Sustainability, Facilities, or Environmental management preferred.Non-Essential Responsibilities:Completes general administrative tasks such as time tracking and using internal system for task managementTravel to/from ADAC facilities to assist with delivery of parts, etc.Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.Exposure to sustainability concepts and frameworks.Understanding of environmental and energy design.Good analytical capabilities and attention to detail.Documentation, recordkeeping, communication and presentation skills.Ability to learn new systems and software solutions.Ability to work collaboratively with othersProject management skillsets
