GENERAL PURPOSE:
Works to increase education and engagement in all areas of sustainability among all members of the University community, including students, faculty, and staff. Manages the Green Reps employee engagement program alongside a working group and provides training and educational sessions to various academic and supportive departments, employee teams and groups, various student organizations, and academic courses. Oversees the development of promotional and educational marketing material such as websites, social media, signs, flyers, handouts, brochures, and labels. Organizes and/or participates in sustainability related events and conferences on campus (e.g. Earth Day, Campus Sustainability Day, and various tabling opportunities for program promotion).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
STAFF SUPPORT AND ENGAGEMENT
Manages the Green Reps employee engagement program. alongside a working group. Develops, writes, edits, and manages the program's monthly e-newsletter The Compost , as well as other program-related print, email, and web content. Organizes quarterly programs to provide ongoing education and motivation for current Green Reps. Grows the Green Reps program through coordination with Human Resources and organization of periodic recruitment events across the University. Supports individual Green Reps to help them realize their departmental or divisional sustainability goals and initiatives.
Creates and continually updates resources to assist campus staff in implementing sustainability policies and procedures (ex: Green Office Guide).
Develops new faculty, staff and community-facing sustainability education and engagement programs.
Provides training and educational sessions to various departments, employee teams and groups.
STUDENT AND ACADEMIC ENGAGEMENT
Hires and manages Facilities Team Green student interns to assist with education and representation projects, perform research or work on sustainability projects with well-defined deliverables.
Works with student groups, such as the EcoReps, Student Government, Student Activities Office, Fraternity and Sorority Affairs, and other interested parties to foster a culture of sustainability.
Fosters and improves collaboration between University Facilities and Services and academic departments.
Provides training and educational sessions to various academic and supportive departments, various student organizations, and academic courses.
ONLINE COMMUNICATION AND PRESENCE
Establishes and maintains sustainability webpages for the University of Rochester
Manages the University Facilities and Services' Green Dandelion blog and coordinate regular Go Green! articles for publication in University news sources to spread awareness of the sustainable projects in which the University participates in.
Oversees social media networking such as the UR Sustainable Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.
Maximizes media exposure of environmental sustainability events and initiatives. Works with local and national media, with approval of the Office of Communications, to keep Rochester and the public aware of the University's sustainability goals, actions and initiatives.
EDUCATION AND REPRESENTATION
Oversees the development of promotional and educational marketing material such as signs, flyers, handouts, brochures, and labels.
Organizes and/or participates in sustainability related events and conferences on campus (i.e. recycling collection events, Campus Sustainability Day, and various tabling opportunities for program promotion).
Create and expand ongoing partnerships across the greater Rochester community to meet shared sustainability goals
Attends and participates in professional meetings and organizations such as Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) and New York Coalition for Sustainability in Higher Education (NYCSHE).
DATA COLLECTION, REPORTING, PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT
Researches best practices for sustainability communications and engagement programs and develops plans for implementation by the appropriate University Facilities and Services.
Assist or lead sustainability reporting efforts including, but not limited to AASHE STARS.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in related field
3-5 years of relevant experience
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Excellent writing and communications skills, ability to work well with a diverse team and manage multiple priorities.

Pay Range
Pay Range: $60,431 - $84,603 Annually
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
