Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Electronics Technician to contribute to the continuous improvement of manufacturing test equipment at Gigafactory 2 in Buffalo, NY. This individual will aid Test Engineers in the improvement, optimization, and maintenance of test equipment for the Super Charging and Residential Energy lines that operate within the factory. Additional responsibilities include supporting the Engineering team with learning and operating test equipment, and collecting data which will aid in diagnosing equipment problems. * Willingness to learn and be a part of writing test software using the LabVIEW and Python programming languages as well as work with engineers to give feedback on the usefulness and effectiveness of the test software in the factory
* Carefully document troubleshooting findings into a structured issue tracking system as well as collect data from instruments and databases to prioritize the most important problems each day
* Ensure system down events are accurately tracked in maintenance logs as well as assist engineering teams to validate correct measurement performance of test equipment
* Read schematic diagrams, build test fixtures and electrical panels which are NFPA79/NEC/UL508A compliant
* Read and understand test procedures, be able to provide on-site support for test equipment troubleshooting with maintenance personnel
* Mark and correct maintenance documents, test procedures, schematic drawings when mistakes are identified. Submit marked documents to engineering staff for review when problems are identified
* Participate in design reviews for manufacturing test equipment, give feedback as well as willingness to study and learn PLC code which interacts with conveyors, robots, and safety equipment
* Associate's Degree in Electronics Engineering or the equivalent in experience as well as 3+ years of experience as a hands-on Electronics Technician
* Familiarity in National Instruments TestStand/LabVIEW, Python and Golang a plus as well as experience with oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, power analyzers, I/O, and electrical loads
* Experience with automatic factory test equipment a plus as well as experience working with and debugging common communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, GPIB, etc.)
* Willingness to learn data analytics and database queries using MySQL
* Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN and SolidWorks a plus as well as familiarity with electronic circuits. Experience with high voltage environments is preferred but not required
* Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%
* Ability to command the english language both written and verbal
