Job Overview:

As the SBA Department Manager with our client, a reputable community bank in the Monterey area, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of SBA lending operations, including underwriting, processing, and closing of loans. You will play a pivotal role in driving the growth of the SBA portfolio while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining high standards of customer service. This position requires a strategic thinker with a passion for supporting small businesses and fostering community relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the SBA department, overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring efficiency in loan processing and underwriting.
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow the SBA loan portfolio, while aligning with the bank's overall business goals.
  • Review and analyze loan applications, ensuring compliance with SBA guidelines and bank policies.
  • Collaborate with other departments to facilitate smooth loan closings and enhance customer service.
  • Monitor the performance of the SBA portfolio, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide training and support to staff on SBA products, processes, and regulations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, community organizations, and government agencies to promote SBA lending initiatives.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior management regarding departmental performance and opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in SBA lending, with a strong understanding of underwriting and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven leadership and management experience within a financial institution.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Proficient in loan origination software and other relevant technology.
