POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for all functions related to the operation of the switchboard and registration for walk-in Emergency Department patients. Some of the job duties include but are not limited to processing all incoming calls on a multi-line phone system, providing information regarding hospital services and events, handling all hospital codes, monitoring and responding to all alarm panels. This position ensures emergency services are coordinated and communicated in a time-efficient manner in accordance with the nature of the emergency. This position is also responsible for registering emergency room walk-in patients. The schedule for this position is every other weekend from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. QUALIFICATION # EDUCATION High School Diploma or equivalent required. # EXPERIENCE/SKILL SETS: One year#of switchboard experience desirable, preferably in a hospital environment. Friendly, positive, helpful disposition Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to multitask in a busy environment Ability to communicate clearly and effectively This position reports to the Patient Access Supervisor
