Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
* This position answers and routes incoming calls on a complex digital telephone system.
* Provides information obtained from a variety of sources to field questions from the public regarding departments, directions, phone numbers, operational hours, etc.
* Dispenses general information in person regarding the college when incoming call load allows.
* Processes reports dealing with telephone information.
* Assists callers in identifying needs and then routing calls appropriately.
* Reports console/computer problems to supervisor.
* Works closely with Risk Management as needed by contacting them during emergency or non-emergency situations.
* Answers questions and provides some training on-call substitutes or student employees.
* Think quickly and communicate orally with a variety of callers; handle a high volume of calls (e.g., 125 calls per hour); locate correct and/or unique spelling of names from the database.
* Provides advanced administrative support not limited to typing, mailing, maintaining required records, taking messages, scheduling appointments, invoicing, prepares and submits requisitions and keeps track of budget expenditures, maintains supply inventory, student schedules, greeting office visitors and other duties as assigned.
* May deliver, pick up, or receive cash payments, documents, supplies, or materials.
* May assists management in the supervision of student workers and support staff including processing complex confidential matters.
* Assists the Director in budget planning and preparation.
* Assists with department website & upkeep.
* Submits works orders for building and equipment maintenance.
* Assists customers with a variety of requests.
* Other duties assigned by the Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* To answer and connect incoming calls to Laredo College.
* Provide information and assist student or community inquiries.
* They will collaborate with many colleagues to facilitate aspects of the event system management process and explain procedures for reservations.
* They work with various computer systems and they represent Laredo College in a customer service capacity in the office, events, school tours, etc.

Required:
* Associates Degree in business or related discipline
* Two years' experience in working in a customer service and/or office environment with a strong emphasis on bookkeeping and accounts reconciliation.
* Valid driver's license and vehicle insurance with reliable transportation.
Preferred:
* Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field.
* Higher Education work experience
* CPR Certification
* Enthusiastic, positive, self-starter, and detail-oriented with strong oral/written communication, interpersonal and marketing skills.
* Strong analytic and decision-making skills; able to respond quickly to unfamiliar situations; above average problem solver and critical thinker.
* Excellent organizational and time-management skills; must be able to effectively organize and maintain large volumes of records. Strong project management skills.
* Ability to initiate professional contact with people to establish rapport.
* Must maintain a strong work ethic with excellent follow-through.
* Self-motivated and able to function independently without extensive direct supervision.
* Detailed-oriented with a focus on achieving optimum results while maintaining high ethical standards and attention to compliance with college policies, mission, and core values.
* Interpret questions, identify problems, read reference manuals, and identify actionable insights from ambiguous and sometimes limited information to propose solutions and process improvements
* Perform data entry and word processing with speed and accuracy without immediate and constant supervision.
* Knowledge and expertise in student technical support skills, i.e., retrieving reports, correspondence operations, and communication products.
* Ability to multi-task, function under pressure, work independently, accept responsibility with limited supervision, manage multiple tasks to completion, and work with frequent interruptions as part of a team environment.
* Willingness to lead through positive influence and take ownership and accountability for actions and decisions.
* Anticipate needs and create a welcoming, diverse, and inclusive environment.
* Highly skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs. Knowledge of and/or ability to learn Ellucian Banner administrative computing system, Event Management System, or other similar systems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.
