Job Description:
Pro Disposal Inc. collects trash and recycled materials in the Central Pennsylvania Region. Currently, we operate out of four regions of Portage, Johnstown, Altoona, and Philipsburg and serve customers in eight counties. We are currently seeking a Switchboard Operator to help fulfill the needs of our growing customer base. The Switchboard Operator is responsible for managing external and internal calls, ensuring they are transferred appropriately or responding to the caller's needs. This role involves maintaining familiarity with various phone systems and telephony services. This position is essential in ensuring accuracy and efficiency in managing the company's high call volume. This position requires a strong attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to effectively interact with both customers and internal teams. The role supports the company's goals by ensuring and upholding high standards of customer service.   • Answer and manage incoming calls, transferring calls to the appropriate individual or department, and providing information as needed.
  • Relay voicemails and other messages accurately to the intended recipients.
  • Maintain records, including call logs and documentation, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Record and update voicemail messages, including holiday closures.
  • Greet and direct visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Operate a variety of office equipment, including computers, fax machines, and copiers.
  • Sort and distribute incoming mail.
  • Perform clerical duties.
  • Assist other departments with clerical tasks as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Typing skills with proficiency in Windows 7 or newer operating systems.
  • Strong grammar, spelling, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent enunciation and clear speaking voice.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with strong organizational skills.
  • Basic computer literacy, including familiarity with MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Knowledge of general office procedures and equipment, including centralized telephone systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in clerical or receptionist roles.
  • Familiarity with office equipment, including printers and fax machines.
  • Understanding of basic telephony and switchboard systems.

Working Conditions:
  • Monday thru Friday position with a schedule of 8am-4:30pm
  • Fast-paced environment with frequent interaction with employees, management, and the public.
  • Requires extended periods of sitting and using telecommunication equipment.
Other Requirements: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively; references from three prior employers; pass a pre-employment drug screening.
