Description JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION: As a SysOps Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, managing, and maintaining infrastructure to ensure system reliability, scalability, and security. You will collaborate closely with development, security, and operations teams to optimize systems, automate workflows, and implement best practices across our infrastructure. Your role includes comprehensive administration, monitoring, and support for all core IT infrastructure systems. This encompasses managing all hardware platforms, operating systems, databases, network protocols, telephony, datacenter operations, security, scripting, and other tools. JOB FUNCTIONS ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:
  • Functions as clinical liaison between IS Department and Patient Care Areas.
  • PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
    • Provides education to clinical staff regarding Information System's clinical applications.
    • Assists clinical staff in identifying cause and solution to computer issues.
    • Collaborates in development and distribution of information to clinical staff.
    • Provides cross-training for other members of the IS staff with regard to clinical information systems.
    • Works with patient care departments in identifying enhancement and/or change requests for applications; works with I/S technical staff to determine feasibility of requests and communicates back to departments expected outcomes.
  • Provides clinical expertise in evaluation of computer programs and applications; and supports implementation and maintenance of clinical information applications.
  • PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
    • Performs master file and table maintenance for assigned applications.
    • Works collaboratively with both internal and external technical experts to ensure programs and applications meet the needs of an interdisciplinary group of end users.
    • Works with I/S technical staff in development of education, literature and training programs to optimize end users' ability to interact effectively with programs and applications.
    • Maintains daily functions of clinical applications.
    • Participates in testing of systems or applications before implementation to ensure functionality.
    • Assists in establishing and maintaining effective and efficient security of applications, based on real world use within BRGMC.
    • Maintains knowledge of current technology in the healthcare environment.
    3 Performs all other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • Experience: 3+ years in infrastructure management, including Azure.
    • Infrastructure-as-Code Proficiency: Expertise with tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
    • Operating Systems Knowledge: Strong understanding of Windows and Linux/Unix operating systems.
    • Monitoring and Logging Tools: Experience with tools like CloudWatch, Datadog, and Splunk.
    • Networking and Security: Experience with networking, security groups, load balancers (e.g., NetScaler), and VPNs.
    • Scripting Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and Bash for automation purposes.
    • CI/CD Experience: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or GitHub Actions.team
    • Large-Scale IT Operations: Experience supporting large-scale IT operations with 1000-2500 servers preferred.
    • Healthcare IT Experience: Previous IT experience in a hospital or critical care environment preferred.
    • SysOps/System Engineering Experience: 5+ years in previous SysOps or Systems Engineering roles.
    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
    • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
    SPECIAL SKILL, LICENSE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
    • Preferred Certifications: Microsoft, Citrix, VMware, and Cisco.
    • Relevant Certifications: AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Azure Administrator Associate, or Google Professional Cloud Architect.
    • Technical Expertise: Proficiency with container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes and Docker.
    • Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with compliance frameworks including ISO 27001, GDPR, and SOC 2.
    • System Experience: Hands-on experience with VMware, Windows, RHEL, Citrix XenApp, Citrix XenDesktop, and SolarWinds.
    • Infrastructure Knowledge: Understanding of Cisco UCS, Active Directory (Entra), DHCP, DNS, GPO, IIS, and Windows OS architecture.
    • Technical Skills: Experience with clustering, certificate management, and SQL.
    • Operational Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of datacenter operations, security, network protocols, and scripting tools.
    • Problem-Solving Abilities: Innovative thinking to solve problems and meet business requirements.
    • Technological Application: Ability to creatively apply technology and existing solutions to address business needs.
    • Technical Acumen: Broad knowledge of relevant technologies and their practical applications to solve business challenges.
    • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
    • Professional Attributes: Self-motivated, priority and project-driven, with a strong desire to learn and advance in the IT field.
    • Availability: Willingness to provide on-call and after-hours support as needed.
