System Administration Supervisor

Work Environment:

This position is a hybrid position where canidates will work in the Greeley, CO office and at home, with occasional requirements for after-hours or weekend work for system maintenance and upgrades.

Job Summary:

The System Administrator Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a system administrator and ensuring the effective operation, maintenance, and security of the organization's IT infrastructure. This role involves managing daily operations, providing technical guidance, and leading projects that enhance system reliability and efficiency. The System Administrator Supervisor will also play a key role in developing IT policies, ensuring compliance, and supporting the professional growth of their team.

Key Responsibilities:

* System Management & Maintenance:

* Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, networks, and other IT systems.

* Ensure that system performance is optimized and that any issues are promptly identified and resolved.

* Manage and monitor cloud services and virtualization environments.

* Security & Compliance:

* Develop and enforce IT security policies and procedures, including data protection, access controls, and patch management.

* Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

* Oversee disaster recovery planning and ensure regular backups are conducted and tested.

* Project Management:

* Lead and manage IT projects, from planning and design to implementation and evaluation.

* Collaborate with other departments to understand their IT needs and provide appropriate solutions.

* Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful completion.

* Technical Support & Troubleshooting:

* Provide advanced technical support and guidance to the team, end-users, and customers particularly in complex or escalated situations.

* Ensure that helpdesk tickets are resolved in a timely and effective manner.

* Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, changes, and procedures.

* Continuous Improvement:

* Stay updated with the latest technology trends and best practices in system administration.

* Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and system enhancements.

* Encourage a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team.

* Collaboration & Communication:

* Serve as a liaison between the system administration team and other IT departments or business units.

* Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing regular updates on system performance, security, and project progress.

* Develop and deliver training programs for system administrators and end-users.

* Team Leadership:

* Supervise and manage a team of system administrators, providing mentorship, performance evaluations, and career development support.

* Coordinate and delegate tasks, ensuring efficient workflow and alignment with organizational goals.

* Facilitate regular team meetings to discuss progress, address challenges, and plan upcoming projects.

Required Skills:

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

* Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in system administration, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.

* Proven experience in managing and leading IT projects.

* Strong leadership and team management skills.

* In-depth knowledge of operating systems and server management.

* Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms.

* Advanced understanding of networking concepts and security protocols.

* Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
