Member of a cross-functional team providing Windows systems administration/engineering expertise and guidance for a critical enterprise-wide messaging system used in the Information Transport Service (ITS) program. Responsible for platform hosting and performance providing subject matter expertise on Windows servers for hardware and virtual machine instantiations. Experience installing and maintaining MS Windows Server (2012/2016), Active Directory, scripting (batch, VBScript, PowerShell, etc), MS Windows services (DNS, DHCP, etc.), Windows firewalls, Group Policy and Local Policy configurations, patching servers and applying DISA STIGS, basic Linux experience is a bonus. Duties include:
- Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for all Windows environments and have expert knowledge and skills in using Microsoft operating systems (Windows 2012R2 and Windows 2016 or higher)
- Engineer, integrate, design and deploy various Windows components and expert knowledge in Active Directory, Group Policy, digital certificates, multi factor integration, DNS and DHCP
- Create baselines for Windows Server 2012/2016 or higher with the appropriate DISA STIGS applied for Windows 2012R2 and Windows 2016 or higher
- Monitor and correct critical server issues and create recovery processes for failures and performance bottlenecks
- Use native, add on tools, and third-party tools to troubleshoot malfunctions, optimizations
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure
- Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
- Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
- Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks
- Ensure technical documentation exists for all systems and is kept up to date to include inventory and patch levels of all systems to include hostnames, property numbers, IP addresses, enclave, number of cores, number of processors, admin passwords, certificates, and service accounts as required
- Integrate systems with Windows as it applies to authentication and core services dependencies such single sign-on and Active Directory
- Engineer and implement solutions for multi-factor authentication with standardized software and hardware
