Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Systems Administrator to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining our IT infrastructure, ensuring the smooth operation of our systems, and providing technical support to our staff. This role involves a combination of hands-on technical tasks and collaboration with other teams and vendors.Essential Functions of the position are detailed below, and include any physical requirements below that.New User Setup & Management: Handle the onboarding and offboarding of new users, ensuring proper configuration of accounts, email, and access to necessary systems.Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls to ensure secure and efficient operation of our network and systems.File Access & Permissions: Manage and maintain shared file systems, ensuring appropriate access controls and permissions are in place.Regularly audit and review file permissions to ensure compliance with company policies.Server Maintenance & Hardware Management: Monitor server performance and health, and proactively address any issues that arise.Coordinate with third-party vendors for parts and repairs when server equipment requires maintenance or replacement.Install and replace hardware components in servers as needed, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to services.Patching & Inventory Management: Manage and maintain the company's inventory system, ensuring all hardware and software assets are properly documented.Oversee the patching process for servers and workstations, ensuring all systems are up-to-date with the latest security updates and software patches.Monitor the helpdesk queue, particularly for network operations (netops), to identify and prioritize high-priority tickets.Route tickets to appropriate sys admins or IT staff for resolution, ensuring timely and efficient support for end users.Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with other IT team members to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.Provide technical support and guidance to staff, ensuring they have the tools and resources needed to perform their jobs effectively.Network Operations & Switch Configuration Switch Configuration & Management: Configure and maintain network switches, ensuring optimal performance and security. This includes setting up VLANs, managing switch port configurations, and monitoring switch performance.Wi-Fi Management: Assist in the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of wireless access points and networks. Ensure robust Wi-Fi coverage, performance, and security across the organization.Network Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve network issues related to switch configurations, Wi-Fi connectivity, and performance bottlenecks.Documentation & Best Practices: Maintain up-to-date documentation for network configurations, including switches and Wi-Fi settings. Follow industry best practices for network security and performance. Security Footage Requests: Monitors the network operations help desk queue for security footage requests as requested for external or internal investigations.Locates and exports security footage as requested for external or internal investigations.Works with 3rd party security vendors for some security footage that we do not directly have access to, so that they can provide the security footage for external or internal investigations.Other Assignments: Works on other assignments and projects as needed. PLEASE NOTE: Essential functions include all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.X Kneel and move from sitting, bending, kneeling or standing multiple times a day.X Push and pull objects up to 25 pounds.X Climb up and down up to 3 flights of stairs at a time. X Lift up to 25 pounds. Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or in a similar role. Strong knowledge of network and server management. Experience with user account management, including Active Directory. Familiarity with patch management and IT asset management systems. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Qualifications and Skills: Preferred: Experience working with third-party vendors for hardware procurement and maintenance. Knowledge of scripting and automation tools to streamline repetitive tasks.Minimum:1-2 years of experience in a Systems Administrator role or similar position.Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or in a similar role.Strong knowledge of network and server management.Experience with user account management, including Active Directory.Familiarity with patch management and IT asset management systems.Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Certification/Licensure:Preferred: Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, etc.). Minimum: N/A
