Job Description:
As an IT Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for the reliable operation, maintenance, and administration of our servers, networking, and computer systems. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in IT, be self-motivated with a passion for the work, and possess the ability to work independently while collaborating with a small team. You will be expected to adapt quickly to a changing environment and implement creative, robust solutions to a wide variety of problems and projects
A typical day might involve: Coming in to work, doing a scheduled weekly backup check to ensure backups are running properly followed by assisting with a few tickets. After lunch, you might troubleshoot why a specific customer's FTP is failing based on a report from another department, or reporting you had previously implemented and automated may alert you to a manual update or intervention that needs to be taken on a new vulnerability. You spend the rest of the day planning and implementing that change, then documenting what was done.
Key Responsibilities:
· Administer and test backup and replication using Veeam
· Design, implement, and install server and networking solutions for company projects. This may range from the kind of switch we need up to assisting with designing an RDS farm.
· Manage and maintain Active Directory and Office 365 environments
· Ensure Windows/Linux computers/servers and necessary programs are up-to-date and patched
· Oversee and improve general network and systems security
· Administer multiple Hyper-V servers and associated VMs
· Troubleshoot and resolve complex IT issues
· Create and run/automate reports for user, permission, update, and other auditing purposes
· Replace hardware, including computers, servers, and networking equipment
· Troubleshoot failed backups and implement corrective measures
Required Skills and Experience:
· 6+ years of combined education or professional experience in IT systems administration
· Strong understanding of networking concepts and hardware
· Extensive experience with Windows and Linux Server management
· Proven experience in Office 365/Azure AD administration
· Proficiency in writing your own Powershell and other automation language scripts
· Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Motivated to improve yourself and the environment in which you work.
Preferred Skills (Pluses):
· Familiarity with SQL for migrations and troubleshooting
· Relevant IT certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE, CCNA)
· Experience administering firewalls
Schedule and Travel:
· Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM, on-site.
· Part of an on-call rotation, 24/7
· Occasional travel may be required. On average, maybe once or twice per year.
Compensation and Benefits:
· Annual salary range: $60,000 - $85,000, commensurate with experience
