Job Title: Systems Administrator

Location: Walnut Creek, CA (This position is onsite full time, at customer facility in SF/Bay area)

Position Overview: NetXperts is looking for a Systems Administrator to join our team! As a Systems Administrator you will work alongside NetXperts engineers to provide world class services to customers by installing, configuring, and troubleshooting various network environments (LAN/WAN/WLAN). This role requires a strong understanding of computer networking, system architecture, and various software tools to enhance operational efficiency. To be effective, you will need to work on individual tasks in a team setting, be self-disciplined, and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical personnel and clients.

Job Description:

  • Provide system administration and support for Windows Active Directory, DNS (Windows and BIND), Internet, wireless, media players and computer(s) and associated software
  • Perform, add, remove and changes in the network devices, Data center devices and window servers
  • Create and maintain user and system documentation
  • Desktop support – hardware is up to par between SOC and needs for the client
  • Communicate with internal and external groups to solve problems during an outage
  • Pursue network engineering certifications at the direction of the engineering manager
  • Perform on site work under the supervision of a remote senior engineer. assisting with maintenance, upgrades, and testing of IT networks
  • Create and update technical documentation (server configuration, backup and recovery procedures)
  • Write documentation for the daily operation (server configuration, perform backup and recovery procedures)
  • IDF clean ups – removing hardware from IDFs

Education and Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (Computer Information Systems, Information System Technologies, Management Information Systems)
  • 3+ years in a related field, preferably in professional services and/or MSP industry

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Technical proficiency in multiple areas including security, networking, administration, and hardware
  • Customer facing skills a must
  • Leadership in a team environment and fostering client relationships
  • Active Directory
  • AD GPOs, Desktop support, troubleshooting
  • Previous consulting experience a plus
  • CCNA preferred
  • Must be able to stand, move, and lift up-to 50 pounds or more as part of the job requirements
  • Previous experience in network engineering as an engineer, network admin, system admin or a similar role
  • Able to troubleshoot desktop, server and printer issues
  • Understanding of safety protocols
  • Attention to detail
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Analytical and strong problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work on-site with customers
  • Flexibility to occasionally work overtime and on the weekends
  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or similar field (preferred not required)
  • Knowledge in routing & switching and networking design
  • Cisco product experience or meaningful experience in key competitor offerings (preferred not required)
