POSITION SUMMARY

The System Engineer II serves as the intermediate level technical member of an engineering team. The position will work across multiple disciplines to deliver IT products and services to the organization that scale efficiently while improving performance and minimizing cost. This role works within a specific domain and follows pre-defined processes and standards. The System Engineer II requires moderate supervision and is expected to proactively identify opportunities for improvement. The System Engineer II will work to contribute to strategies, standards, new capabilities, build and design automated workflows, and connect multiple services or product lines within the organization. The System Engineer II will have a background in design, implementation and support of infrastructure, software, applications, and/or security. The position will require experience and working knowledge of Agile and/or Lean methodologies to deliver information services in an efficient and repeatable manner. The System Engineer II works with customers, stakeholders, analysts, architects, and other engineers to troubleshoot and find root cause of technology and security defects. They need to be excellent team players and have demonstrated experience across multiple systems. The System Engineer II may be a thought leader for certain technologies.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

* Contributes to the development of enterprise engineering solutions, conducts reviews and validation of systems, code, and security.

* Builds to system and security standards for the organization.

* Contributes to the automation of information services workflows and services.

* Works with and coordinates cross functional teams and vendors to ensure the health of Health First's IT systems.

* Contributes to specifications and requirements for complex software programming applications with users and vendors.

* Analyzes and installs new application systems. Provides input into technical walk-throughs. Assures software accuracy, completion, and validity. Responsible for overall technical system specification and project control.

* May manage/lead small technical projects. Communicates with users and management the status and completion of work requests.

* Supports, installs, maintains and troubleshoots enterprise IT solutions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* Education:

* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent STEM field.

* Licensure:

* None Required

* Certification:

* Intermediate level technical certification within one year of hire.

* Work Experience:

* At least one year of applicable IT experience.

* Work Experience in lieu of Education:

* Associates degree plus three years of applicable technical experience.

* Or, in lieu of no degree, five years of applicable technical experience.

* Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

* Basic understanding of current development and trends in Information Technology in one or more of the following domains:

* Infrastructure engineering: network, server, storage, voice, and/or information security.

* Software engineering.

* Data center engineering.

* Database engineering.

* Windows and Linux o Good soft skills, verbal and written communications, including the ability to turn complex technical topics into understandable terminology is a necessity.

* Experience with automation or scripting technologies.

* Able to quickly learn new skills and apply to their current work.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Certification:

* At least one current intermediate level technical certification preferred.

* Work Experience:

* 1-2 years of applicable IT experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary

* Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, stooping.

* Long periods of computer time or at workstation.

* Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.

* May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise.

* Communicating with others to exchange information.

* Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.

* Workspace may vary from open to confined; on site or remote.

* May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
