The Board's Internship program is designed to provide valuable work experience for undergraduate and graduate students considering careers including, but not limited to, economics, finance and accounting, information systems, and data analysis. The Board believes that by combining academic endeavors with project-related work experience, qualified and capable college students can gain the practical knowledge need in a competitive global job market. Internships are paid positions with salaries commensurate with credit hours; internships may be in-person, remote or hybrid, depending on the needs of the team. Employment in the Board's internship program is granted to U.S. citizens. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited university and returning to continue studies after the internship. Interns receive a syllabus or research project plan outlining their projects and goals for the internship. Interns are assigned a supervisor or mentor to guide them through their internship, and regular check-in meetings with their manager to manage performance expectations and assist with learning goals. Interns have access to a wide range of training programs and events for professional development purposes.Position RequirementsAs a System Engineer intern, you will work in the Enterprise Infrastructure area of the Information Technology Division and will provide support to infrastructure teams responsible for maintaining and enhancing the enterprise computing environment. You will work closely with team members to provide network engineering services, including design, installation, and enhancement of local and wide area network infrastructures and enterprise server, application and system management services.What You'll Be DoingSystem Engineer interns support teams in· Troubleshooting issues related to network appliances, infrastructure hardware and software, web services and enterprise applications· Monitoring web services, network and server performance· Supporting backend systems such as database, e-mail and server operating environments· Upgrading servers, routers and switches· Developing scripts to support the above activities, and much more!Previous System Engineer interns had the opportunity to contribute to projects related to· Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI/ML)· Utilizing Solarwinds, a network monitoring suite of tools· Installing, configuring, and migrating systems to be monitored with Zabbix· Contributing to the firewall revalidation process· Mapping of network equipment migrationThrough these projects, you will gain experience with various network and enterprise infrastructure systems and have the opportunity to determine if a career in network and server infrastructure engineering is for you.How You'll Make an ImpactOur mission matters.
