Location: Queensbury,NY, USA
Insight Global's renewable energy client is looking for a System Operator to join their team. This person should have experience operating computerized switchboards and auxiliary equipment in a Control Center/Room. This person will need to comply with safety procedures, SOPs, and regulatory licenses while also implementing hydro generation production schedules. The schedule is on a 5 Week Cycle of 12 hour shifts outlined below:
Week 1: 4 nights on --> 3 days off
Week 2: 3 days on --> 1 day off
Week 3: 3 nights on --> 3 days off
Week 4: 4 days on --> 3 days off
Week 5: Training week --> 7 days off
The rate is full time but you would be paid on an hourly basis with overtime compensation. I'm outlining the hourly rates below but the salaries listed are what the average operators made last year.
Training Schedule/Phases and Pay:
-Phase A: 2 months – pay is $33hr
-Phase B: 2 months – pay is $36hr
-Phase C: 2 months – pay is $37.50hr
Must Haves:
-2+ years of experience as a System Operator in a control room
-Knowledge of electrical power generation -Electrical experience (work or school)
-Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite
-Strong communication both verbal and written
-Willingness to occasionally travel (most travel will be during the training phase – which is expected to take approximately 6 months)
Plusses:
-Navy Nuclear or Maritime background
-Experience with operating the SCADA system
-Experience in hydro and steam station operations, safety, and compliance
-Experience in electrical generation
