Job Summary:
Responsible for designing, documenting, building, maintaining, and securing the customer's Microsoft Active Directory network of computers and data. Responsible for a broad range of administrative server and backup support duties, including server operations, backup configuration and monitoring, server monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitoring server operations.
- Provisioning and troubleshooting virtual machines with VMWARE.
- Installing, configuring and troubleshooting a variety of applications.
- Manage Primary storage systems, including SAN/NAS Volumes, VMWare Datastores, and NTFS volumes.
- Manage system backups. Includes working with VSS enabled backups and image based backups, and various snapshotting technologies.
- Patching of server operating systems, applications, firmware, and drivers.
- Work with vendors and resellers to procure quotes for hardware, software, and data center necessities.
- Work with management to budget and plan for future projects and hardware/software replacement.
- Work with vendors to repair/service server or storage hardware failures.
- Perform occasional data center activities like cabling, battery management, and device racking.
- Server application patching and updates.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- At least 2 years working in a Systems Administrator role.
- At least 3 year experience interacting with end users in a helpdesk position.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Expert troubleshooting abilities.
- Expertise in building and managing Windows servers.
- Familiarity with Active Directory.
- Experience in managing email with Exchange/Office 365, databases with Microsoft SQL Server, and webservers with Microsoft IIS.
- Experienced with virtual machine technology and topologies.
- Advanced knowledge of the following technologies: Windows Server operating systems, Microsoft Active Directory including security delegation and Group Policy management.
- Intermediate knowledge of wired and wireless networking protocols, equipment and functionality
- Working knowledge of scripting, ability to write and troubleshoot scripts written in Powershell, Python, Windows Command Batch, and VBScript.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, RDP, HTTPS, LDAP protocols.
- Working Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise and Desktop with Microsoft SQL server helpful.
- Working Knowledge of ManageEngine monitoring and Active Directory products helpful.
- AS400/Iseries experience helpful
- Oracle experience helpful
- Docuware experience helpful
Work Environment:
- Fast paced environment within customer setting. Travel between County buildings is common and expected
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as the employee works in an office setting, at an individual workstation, using telephone and computer
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to be on the go for most of the day, a very active position.
- Will require heavy lifting (such as UPSes, servers, etc).
- Will require after hours support.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for most of the day
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a printer/copy machine.
- This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office.
- The person in this position frequently communicates via telephone.
