Riverside Overview: Riverside Research is an independent National Security Nonprofit dedicated to research and development in the national interest. We provide high-end technical services, research and development, and prototype solutions to some of the countrys most challenging technical problems. All Riverside Research opportunities require U.S. Citizenship.Position Overview:

Riverside Research is searching for a Linux expert with extensive knowledge of RedHat and Debian operating systems. The individual is capable of defining, designing and incorporating Linux operating systems into a Windows domain environment using automation techniques. Proposes and implements enhancements (software and hardware) that will improve the performance and reliability of Linux operating systems within Riverside Research's infrastructure.

Responsibilities:
  • Extensive Linux knowledge primarily related to RedHat and/or Debian operating systems
  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support to the Linux systems across Riverside Research enterprise that includes investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving issues related to the Linux operating systems
  • Document Linux installation and configuration procedures and update existing procedures in Confluence
  • Develop and maintain ansible scripts and playbooks for installing and managing Linux images
  • Manage automation/orchestration of Linux operating systems
  • Maintain local repositories for Rocky and Ubuntu Linux ensuring clients and virtual machines remain up to date to meet vulnerability scans
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures related to Linux installs and Linux virtual machines on the corporate network
  • Coordinate all significant information technology changes with the appropriate parties such as management, infrastructure, and information security
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a systems administrator (including 2 years of Linux experience)
  • Bachelor's degree, 3 years with a Master's degree
  • Experience across traditional IT stack (Clients, Networking, Servers, Storage)
  • Managed and supported Linux-based operating system in a Windows-based domain (Active Directory)
  • Experience upgrading, installing, and configuring application software and computer hardware
  • Orchestration/automation experience using tools such as Terraform/Ansible
  • Able to obtain Security+ or relevant certification (within 180-days of employment)
  • Ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ability to manage time independently without direct supervision
  • Knowledge and understanding of DevOps and DevSecOps
  • Security+ or relevant certification
Global Comp: $90,000- $105,000 This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.
