Overview:

Soft Tech Consulting is seeking a highly motivated, self-directed individual to fill the role of a Systems Administrator. We are looking for a Systems Administrator who will be a strong addition to the team. The selected individual will join a collaborative team environment where they will provide expertise and support, including helping to define the projects objectives, support quality control, and support coordinating the efforts of team members to deliver projects according to plan. Key to the success of this position is the successful delivery of projects, and effective communication to all levels of staff for reporting project status.

MUST HAVE INTERIM SECRET CLEARANCE OR HIGHER TO START, BUT MUST BE ABLE TO ULTIMATELY OBTAIN A TOP SECRET CLEARANCE

LOCATION: ABERDEEN PROVING GROUNDS, MD

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure client services are fully functional twenty-four hours a day/seven days a week.
  • Troubleshoot system outages to resolve the problem and recover services to maximum performance as quickly as possible.
  • Assist with implementation, configuration, and maintenance of various technologies across multiple areas such as virtual server and desktop Infrastructure, web hosting and application support, printer and multifunction devices, domain services, enterprise infrastructure, data backup, endpoint security, and enterprise operations/monitoring.
  • Ensure that all client services, including underlying hardware and software, meets all DoD 8500 series and NIST 800-53 security requirements.
  • Develop systems architecture and other system engineering/administration documentation.
  • Research, develop, demonstrate, integrate, and test innovative technologies.
  • Create test plans to evaluate hardware and software being considered for implementation or production.
  • Provide written evaluations of system concepts, designs, performance, and capacity.
  • Adhere to server backup and restore operations as defined per SOP.
  • Adhere to the disaster recovery plan for all systems.
  • Perform testing prior to applying changes to systems to ensure full functionality and integration with all services.
  • Implement, monitor, and troubleshoot installation of patches, updates, additional tools and future versions of software on servers and workstations.
  • Ensure server logs are managed according to SOP and are provided to the ISSM (Information Systems Security Manager) upon request.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and server patching after core business hours if necessary.
  • Provide engineering consulting and compliance management.
  • Prepare and present training information to the technical staff and user personnel.
  • Maintain data integrity including virus checking.
  • Ensure maximum availability and performance of systems given available resources.
  • Participate in Change Management Control process and submit Requests for Change.
  • Administer system security tools to include ACAS, SCAP and Radix.
  • Ensure compliance with Cybersecurity Vulnerability Alerts and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
  • Ensure STIG checklists and associated artifacts for all technologies are reviewed, and validation results are posted.
  • Assist with implementation, configuration, and maintenance of various technologies in various technology areas including virtual server and desktop Infrastructure, web hosting and application support, printer and multifunction devices, domain services, enterprise infrastructure, data backup, endpoint security, and enterprise operations/monitoring.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum HS Diploma with 12+ years of overall applicable experience, or BA/BS Bachelors Degree with 10+ years overall applicable experience preferred.
  • Interim Secret is allowed until full Secret clearance.
  • Obtain and maintain (if don't already possess) a computing environment certification relevant to job duties (must have within 6 months of hire)
  • DoD 8570.01-M baseline certification at time of hire.
  • Experience with any of the following technologies preferred:
    • Windows 2019/2022, RHEL 7 and 9
    • RHEL enterprise tools such as Satellite, Puppet, Ansible, Centrify, and JAMF.
    • Apple OS X Windows integration.
    • Veeam Backup and Repository, ExaGrid disk appliances, PureStorage flash storage
    • Citrix Xen Desktop, Xen App, and NetScaler.
    • Microsoft domain management including Active Directory and Group Policy.
    • McAfee Host Based Security System (HBSS) and Army Endpoint Security System (AESS) ePO server.
    • Splunk Enterprise Security.
    • Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).
    • Microsoft IIS and Apache.
  • Experience with change management processes.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to follow instructions and provide support to all team members.
