Job Description:
Description Rack & Riddle, the #1 custom sparkling wine producer in the US, is seeking to add a skilled and motivated System Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will provide advanced technical support to our employee base, ensuring the smooth operation of our IT systems and hardware. This role requires a strong problem-solver with excellent customer service skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Reporting to the Director of IT, this role will have a high level of visibility throughout the company. This role will float between our three Sonoma County properties a minimum of 3 days a week with the possibility of working remote 2 days. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain servers.
  • Monitor systems performance and ensure uptime and availability.
  • Manage virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Monitor and maintain the organization's network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, VPN).
  • Manage and configure network security (firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems).
  • Configure network services such as DNS, DHCP, routing, and firewall rules.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls (Active Directory, LDAP).
  • Install and maintain antivirus, anti-malware, and other security software.
  • Monitor for security breaches or unauthorized access.
  • Plan, implement, and manage backup solutions for data and systems.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for system configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Provide technical support to end-users for system-related issues.
  • Support IT projects and assist in rolling out new technologies.
Requirements The successful candidate's background includes:
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a systems administrator or similar role.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting servers and managing network devices like routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Experience supporting end-user issues related to hardware, software, and connectivity and working with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).
  • Experience managing Active Directory, LDAP, or similar directory services.
  • CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Azure Administrator Associate or MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator) Certifications a plus.
  • A careful and detail-oriented approach to managing complex systems.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate across teams.
  • Ability to effectively managing time, especially when handling multiple tasks or responding to system outages.
  • Ability to work with other IT personnel, departments, and vendors to resolve issues and improve systems.
  • Top notch customer service skills.
A successful candidate is able to showcase the following technical skills:
  • Proficiency in managing different operating systems, such as:
    • Windows Server (Active Directory, Group Policy).
    • Mac OS.
  • Understanding of network protocols and services, such as:
    • TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, FTP, HTTP, SSH, VPN.
    • Network configuration, routing, and firewall management.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies like Hyper-V.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid infrastructure setups.
  • Familiarity with backup software and disaster recovery processes (Veeam, Acronis, etc.).
  • Experience with SAN/NAS, RAID configurations, and managing enterprise storage systems.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python for automating administrative tasks is a plus.
  • Understanding of security best practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection, antivirus, and data encryption.
