The System Administrator is accountable for proactively managing AAGI's system environment to provide high availability. Providing exceptional IT services that maintain high security standards and support the business on a 24/7 basis. Support the business operations with processes that are effective and efficient in accordance with established industry and SSAE18 standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, modify, maintain, secure and perform needed repairs to server and network infrastructure and VMware, as well as backup management for disaster recovery. Accountable for checking the backup on a daily basis
- Provide server/network support relating to software and hardware problems reported by users on a 24/7/365 basis
- Maintain an adequate level of knowledge of operating system and application software being used to provide high levels of support to users
- Install operating systems, such as Windows 7 and Server 2008, using disk management techniques (RAID, mirroring, etc.); implements domain designs, establishes permission hierarchies for groups of users, applies permission rules, etc.
- Add and maintain users on the network; assigning file access, ensuring security, managing GPO's and scripts, maintaining their configurations are within standards
- Accountable for installing network server-side applications, such as Network Backup, VMware, SQL etc., as well as maintaining, inventorying & ensuring compliance with licenses
- Make recommendations for new equipment and services to purchase and work with various vendors for procurement
- Diagnose and repair hardware failures, errors due to software mismatches, failure of queued tasks and similar unexpected issues; this may involve investigating, locating and using supplier support documentation
- Ensure that critical server and/or workstation updates are applied as needed without negative impact to other systems
- Complete required service pack updates on servers, Windows updates on workstations and servers to ensure AAGI has the latest critical Microsoft product updates to maintain the running of the Windows operating system
- Provide technical assistance and training to system users and perform user- and desktop-level duties as needed
- Support for local help desk tickets for PC's affiliated with office users and machines throughout the facility. Proactively keep requester and supervisor updated on status
- Assist all PC users as needed in accordance with company training programs, instructing them in the use of equipment, software and manuals
- Answer user's inquiries in person, email and via telephone concerning systems operation
- Investigate and implement warning techniques to highlight and fix malfunctions and other operational difficulties before they occur
- Develop and implement procedures for all repetitive & maintenance tasks (which may incorporate suppliers' documentation), and trains other IT staff members on basic duties
- Technical support/Help Desk and carry out tasks defined in the Help Ticket Tracking system
- Website updates and process improvements
- VMware proficiency (5.0+) is required and needs to cover these areas: (1) Install & configure VMware vSphere suite of products (2) Conduct and Manage P2V migrations Administration of VMware Infrastructure solutions. (3) Diagnose and repair hardware failures, disk/snapshot consolidations, errors due to software mismatches, failure of queued tasks and similar unexpected issues; this may involve investigating, locating and using supplier support documentation. (4) Administration of VMware Infrastructure solutions
- Windows server proficiency is required and needs to cover these areas: (1) Extensive experience with diagnosis and repair of system failures.(2) Add/maintain users on network and assign file access (3) Manage security via audit tools (4) Manage GPO's and scripts, (5) Maintain configurations up to standards in accordance with SSAE18 attestation. (6) Diagnose and repair hardware failures, errors due to software mismatches, failure of queued tasks and similar unexpected issues while proactively investigating, locating and applying supplier support documentation. (7) Automation of Windows updates on servers & workstations, server & workstation patches (WSUS)
- Automation of FTP processes
- SQL server administration: maintenance plans, and performance tuning.
- Ghost proficiency and image management
- Carry out other such duties as may be assigned or requested
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in M.I.S. or I.T. field, or equivalent from four-year College or technical school
- Three to five years administration experience with switches, UPS, PowerChute is desirable
- 3rd party Certification in any of these areas: MSFT, CSCO, EMC, RHT, MCSE
- Excellent judgment and oral/written communication skills and the ability to work well with users to provide exceptional support
- Office 365 Exchange Online administration & performance tuning experience is desired, but not necessary
