To understand stakeholder requirements that help applications align with the organization's business process. Systems Analysts are responsible for an application's Development, Testing, Release and Deployment, and Production Support. Essential Job Functions
- Participates as a team member for the development and implementation of systems.
- Provides support for internal customers; trains users in usage of software; troubleshoots software and some hardware problems.
- Installs phones and manages user accounts.
- Designs forms, reports, and documentation.
- Prepares system design and all associated documentation prior to systems implementation including narratives, flow charts, decisions table, input/output formats, and database design for management review.
- Designs, develops, and installs small scale software applications and configures new systems and hardware.
- Assists with defining and maintaining databases and files, logical sequence of information flow, requirements for programming and systems control parameters.
- Develops, debugs, and modifies existing applications.
- Repairs or replaces equipment as needed.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of form design, systems design and planning, data processing, and application programming languages, virtual memory, remote access item sharing, multi-processing and batch oriented random access systems.
- Knowledge of database performance management and tuning, fault analysis and remediation, database backups, disaster recovery procedures, database security, auditing, and designing database architecture; of hardware configuration, logical and physical database layouts, database management and monitoring multiple databases.
- Ability to perform under stress and meet deadlines; to interpret and develop flow charts, specifications, object codes and diagrams; to prepare and present implementation schedules; to maintain confidentiality; and to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
- Skilled in operating and training others on multiple types of software programs; skilled in using various types of computer hardware and office machines.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, or other Information Technology related field; and
- Two (2) years of relevant work experience in software development and support.
- Candidates with SharePoint and/or Query Development knowledge will be given additional consideration.
- Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
- Related experience may be substituted for required education at a rate of 30 semester hours equal to one (1) year of experience.
Supplemental InformationWorking Conditions:Work is performed primarily in an office setting. Work schedule may include evening, weekend, emergency call and call-back hours. Some travel may be required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand, walk, and sit; reach with hands or arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Clarity of vision at short distance required. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion. May be subject to exposure to electrical hazards, CRTs and VDTs.
