Job Description Job Description This position plays a crucial role by overseeing all aspects for specific application software and related technologies used in assigned practice areas across the entire law firm. This position requires a strong understanding of how legal practice areas function including legal procedures, data management, and information technology. The focus of this position is to ensure the efficient and recommended use of the application software within the practice area(s). This person at times would work closely with the IT department, Practice Group Management, Chief Operating Officer and the e-Discovery Manager of the Firm. Responsibilities: Technical Support and Training: Act as the primary liaison for attorneys and staff concerning practice software, procedures, and technical matters. Deliver training and guidance to legal teams for best practices, software utilization, and data management techniques. Address technical issues related to practice software and associated firm systems that might be integrated. Assist attorneys in preparing courtroom presentation documents, audio, video and related technology to present evidence during trial. Provide crucial case management support, including in some cases coordination with E-Discovery requirements. Stay current with related technical trade associations related to supported software and network with other industry peers. Provide recommendations on related technologies and current licensing arrangements in place with supported software. Quality Control and Assurance: Conduct quality control checks to verify accuracy and completeness of processed data and review outcomes. Implement quality assurance measures to mitigate risks associated with data integrity as utilized in supported practice technologies. Monitor compliance of data as used by practice related software. Vendor Management: Evaluate and maintain relationships with service providers and software vendors based on expertise, cost-effectiveness, and reliability. Negotiate contracts and service agreements with vendors, overseeing their performance to ensure timely delivery of services within agreed schedules and budgets. Manage relationships with external vendors and consultants, serving as a liaison between the firm and third-party service providers. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation for certain procedures in regard to major aspects of practice software, (data importing, exporting, global edits, archiving of data, maintenance upgrades, test scripts, etc.) Generate regular reports on metrics requested or develop to demonstrate software value to practice and depth of use. Assist with preparing technology budget for responsible practice software. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Certifications in practice related legal technologies, such as RCA, ACEDS, CCE, CCO, CCME, CCP, CCPA, are preferred but not required. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite FTP, and text editors. Demonstrated experience (5-7years) in technology legal support roles within a law firm or corporate legal department. In-depth knowledge of OPUS 2 platform both from a user viewpoint and support role Proficiency in administering legal practice software applications. Any experience with Opus2, Case Notebook, CaseMap, Trial Director, PageVault, and ThoughtRiver would be preferred but not required. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to troubleshoot technical issues. Exceptional communication skills enabling effective collaboration with legal teams, IT professionals, and external vendors. Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and data security with legal and ethical standards. Demonstrated ability to work independently and able to prioritize workload
