POSITION DESCRIPTION / Niobium is seeking a passionate Systems Architect who thrives on designing innovative and scalable solutions. Reporting to the CTO this ideal candidate has a strong technical history developing products with well defined architecture designs and specifications. The role will influence our Product to meet market and product requirements while communicating architecture designs to be understood within the organization. This candidate will drive our cutting-edge hardware accelerator forward through the technical leadership of client-server and cloud infrastructure integrations. This role, through the support of our architecture team, will lead our product development through RAPID leadership in designing our chip internal architecture and interfaces. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES / Primary Responsibilities:
  • System Design and Development:
    • Analyze system requirements based on product requirements.
    • Assess technology options.
    • Develop architecture designs that encompass hardware and software components.
    • Ensure alignment with industry best practices, standard protocols and interphases, and organizational goals.
  • Requirements Gathering and Analysis:
    • Collaborate with all stakeholders to gather and analyze system requirements.
    • Translate requirements into technical specifications.
    • Design architecture solutions that address functional and non-functional needs.
  • Technology Evaluation and Selection:
    • Evaluate and trade-off technology options to assess fit against product and market needs in a quantifiable way.
    • Recommend technology selections based on organizational needs, budget constraints, and strategic goals.
  • System Integration and Interoperability:
    • Design architecture solutions that support communication and data exchange between different systems, applications, and platforms.
    • Ensure compatibility with existing infrastructure and future expansion needs.
  • Performance Optimization and Scalability:
    • Optimize system performance by creating efficient and scalable architecture designs.
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE /Required Skills:
  • In-depth understanding of how special-purpose hardware (accelerators) integrates into server and desktop platforms.
  • Hands on Experience with:
    • High-bandwidth hardware I/O channels between accelerators and host platforms such as PCIe and CXL.
    • High-bandwidth low latency memory technologies such as HBM2 and DDR5.
    • Deep memory hierarchies and how to optimize memory management and movement.
    • Complex software stacks and how they are integrated, optimized and deployed for accelerators.
    • Virtualization of special-purpose hardware.
    • Integrating accelerator host servers into cloud environments.
    • Cloud computing architecture, both at the server and the cloud levels.
    • Managing high-bandwidth network traffic between host servers in cloud environments.
    • Deploying special-purpose hardware into cloud power envelopes.
    • Deploying hardware in datacenter hardware mechanical form factors and specification (thermal, electrical, mechanical).
    • Familiar with certifications needed for datacenter deployment.
  • Track record of successfully delivering special-purpose hardware accelerator products such as GPUs or AI engines to market.
  • In-depth understanding of cryptography and techniques for computing on data while it remains encrypted.
  • Ability to collaborate as a team member with hardware, firmware and software experts.
  • A passion for making novel acceleration systems easy to deploy and use.
  • Advanced degree and 7-10 years of experience as a systems architect.
