This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable. As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will support the design and development of a variety of ground systems that meet Blue Origin's needs; to include the controller electronics, software, harness and power electronics, and instrumentation. You support your team through requirements development and decomposition, technical trade study support, risk management, systems safety, integration and test, verification, validation, and other systems engineering-related activities. These responsibilities will require wide application of systems engineering principles and concepts, plus an understanding of electrical, controls hardware, and other related subject areas. You will work with the New Glenn Ground Systems group in using technical standards and processes to enable robust, right-sized electrical and control systems development. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage requirements development, decomposition, and verification/validation for electrical and control systems
  • Support technical trade studies, architecture, and concept development
  • Generate Concept of Operations (ConOps) for Electrical Ground Support Equipment
  • Develop electrical Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
  • Plan and execute integrated testing and operations of ground systems
  • Ensure subsystem readiness for integrated testing
  • Track and coordinate anomaly reports and change requests through implementation and resolution
  • Act as the negotiator between multiple and sometimes conflicting requirements to ensure the optimization of our ground systems
  • Utilize collaboration tools such as Jama, JIRA, Confluence, Windchill, and Creo
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, integration and test, and requirements development or verification
  • In-depth knowledge of systems engineering practices (e.g., requirements development; standard verification methods; functional decomposition; standard diagramming techniques; risk and opportunity management
  • Ability to work effectively in collaborative team environments
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to work with partially defined requirements and changing criteria
  • Experience with requirements development/management tools such as DOORS, DOORS Next Gen
  • Experience and ability to work independently on rapid development programs
  • 3+ years of current technical hands-on experience in:
    • Demonstrated successful experience writing technical procedures, non-conformance documentation, and specifications
    • Strong technical writing and interpersonal skills
    • Strong safety record and attitude, including hands-on experience planning and conducting hazardous or critical tests and operations
    • A proven track record of working successfully in multiple fields
    • Successful experience leading and managing teams integrating multiple subsystems to meet a top-level system requirement
  • 2-6+ years of current technical hands-on experience designing, testing, or operating in at least one of the following fields:
    • Avionics, Navigation, or Control systems
    • Power Storage and Distribution Systems
    • Electrical Harnessing
    • Electrical Instrumentation
    • Communications systems
    • Electrical Ground Support Equipment
