Job Description:
Position Summary The Systems Engineer will work with the full design life cycle including definition, design, development, verification, validation and production release of Avionica products and technologies. Design and development will require working knowledge and skills in areas including PC, embedded, and hand-held based hardware. A successful Avionica Systems Engineer will be innovative, & self-motivated. Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Actively Participate in full product life-cycle including requirements gathering and analysis, specification and design, prototyping, software integration, production release and testing.
  • Generation of documentation, to support the design and verification of completed design including, but not limited to schematics and Wiring Diagrams, Bills of Materials,
  • Development Test Procedures and Reports, Production Test Procedures, Component Specifications.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of engineering changes.
  • Development of Windows® and Linux based software for personal computers, embedded devices, and/or hand held devices.
  • Create specifications and design of test equipment to be used in the production environment as part of the manufacturing process.
  • Design of electronic circuitry with the aid of schematic capture software and PC Board layout software.
  • Design of FPGA architectures including complete System-On-Chip platforms as well as custom IP components using HDL and supplier specific tools.
  • Interface with other personnel including, but not limited to: PC Board layout personnel; Component vendors; Production assembly personnel; Production test personnel; Quality personnel
  • Maintain technical knowledge of all Company products.
  • Develop test equipment and procedures to support Certification Efforts.
  • Automate testing of Avionica developed systems.
  • Develop lab systems to streamline development.
  • Monitor Product Failure Rates and Performance Metrics by coordinating with production.
  • May travel, as required, to accommodate above duties.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent in a technical or publishing field.
  • Minimum 1+ years' experience with software development languages including C and C++.
  • At least 1 years' experience in the design, implementation, and support of embedded systems.
  • At least 1 year full life-cycle DO-178 B documentation development experience.
  • Familiarity with the design, implementation, and support of embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with digital circuit implementation using FPGAs and microprocessors.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools/languages (Cadence, Mentor, SPICE, MATLAB)
  • Familiarity with laboratory measurement equipment including logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, voltage meters, etc.
  • Working knowledge of and ability to create and navigate through detailed technical standards/specifications and other technical documents.
  • Ability to work with senior software/hardware engineers in a small group.
  • Ability to write specifications for collaboration with outside contractors and senior engineers.
  • Must be self-motivated and very creative with excellent communications and writing skills.
