OverviewWho We Are:Our team is comprised of electrical engineers who specify, design, develop, integrate, and test electronic instrumentation and control (I&C) systems. We're looking for driven high-performers who consistently focus on achieving results, demonstrate extreme ownership, thrive in a highly collaborative environment, take pride in building and strengthening their team, exemplify our core values, and seek to be part of something special that is more than just the means to a paycheck: a mission and vision that is bigger than themselves and their immediate team. What We Do:Our team performs systems engineering and integration with a focus on the electrical engineering discipline. Collaborating within our department as well as with other departments and engineering disciplines, system engineers will participate in the development, integration, and maintenance of shipboard equipment for a variety of electrical I&C systems. We will be leveraging model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools to supplement our systems engineering practices throughout the system's life-cycle. Our systems are developed by specifying and integrating subcomponents at the circuit card level (i.e., we specify which circuit cards to use, but we do not develop the cards or the software). In summary, our team generates system and hardware specifications based on concepts that we develop, supports other teams who design and develop the system hardware and software using our specifications, and supports integration and test of the hardware and software in our lab, test facilities, and the ship. The engineer in this role will practice both electrical and systems engineering, working closely with interfacing system teams, hardware procurement teams, software development teams, and the customer. Related responsibilities include research, project management, risk management, developing written deliverables, preparing presentations, and participating in customer program reviews. This position requires an extensive amount of written and verbal collaboration and technical rigor.Systems engineers on our team typically perform the following types of work:
- Developing and maintaining cost and schedule estimates
- Preparing written deliverables including technical recommendations to the customer
- Reviewing technical deliverables from various internal and external organizations
- Eliciting, managing, and validating equipment and interface requirements via extensive collaboration with cognizant engineers across multiple disciplines, the customer, subcontractors, and other stakeholders
- Developing system architecture concepts, including evaluation of competing alternatives
- Developing and maintaining system models in an MBSE environment
- Maintaining a prototypical hardware and software development lab, required for the life of the boat
- Developing vendor statements of work, evaluating vendor estimates, reviewing vendor technical deliverables, and providing vendor support
- Writing technical manuals and procedures for operating and maintaining equipment
- Supporting system operational testing, including procedure development, test execution, and evaluation of results
- Providing remote and/or on-site (deckplate) support and troubleshooting for ship construction and test activities
