Position Type: Administrative Staff Date Posted: 9/10/2024 Location: TECHNOLOGY SERVICES DEPARTMENT POSITION PURPOSE: The person(s) in this position will be responsible for the installation, configuration, diagnosis and maintenance of district's network switches and routers, physical and virtual servers, applications, enterprise wireless technologies, multimedia devices, and other systems as required. Assist with monitoring and modifying procedures to improve end-user experiences with technology. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Administration of District physical and virtual servers, Storage Area Networks, network switches, and enterprise wireless technologies.
  • Administration of Azure servers/AzureAD/Office 365/Google cloud environment
  • Administration of network switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Daily administration and management including, but not limited to creation and maintenance of user accounts, login scripts, group policies and software applications.
  • Monitoring and managing assigned systems and infrastructure.
  • Establish, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.
  • Design and implement systems automation as required for better efficiency.
  • Provide both hardware and software support for Technology Services personnel and District staff.
  • Oversee the constant availability of technical resources.
  • Research new technologies as they apply to District needs and provide direction for District applications and network technologies.
  • Provide data analysis for capacity planning and product evaluation reports to assist management. Monitor existing usage trends and make recommendations for new and/or upgrades for all networked hardware, software, applications, operating systems, and associated peripherals in a local and wide area environment.
  • Configure and monitor server and application backups.
  • Provide equipment/software upgrade recommendations to management to ensure redundancy and maximum up time.
  • Understand and follow all District operations, policies and procedures.
  • Keep supervisor advised of any potential hardware or software problems or conflicts that may have an effect district-wide.
  • Will perform all other tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Technology Services Officer, Chief Operational Services Officer, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent. QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Should have a bachelor's degree in an information technology field, however experience and/or training may be considered as equivalent.
  • Must have a strong understanding of network and server security.
  • Must have an advanced level IT certification from Microsoft, Cisco, or Extreme Networks. If one of these certifications have not yet been acquired, the applicant will have 90 days to complete certification. Other certifications may be recognized with the approval the hiring manager.
  • Strong understanding of DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP.
  • Applicant must have a working knowledge of Active Directory and Windows Server.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Exchange and Office 365.
  • Experience administering enterprise backup solutions.
  • Working knowledge of server virtualization using VMWare/Hyper-V.
  • Experience with Group Policies and PowerShell.
  • Well-developed personal discipline, self-management and organizational skills.
  • Well-developed communication and human relation skills when dealing with technical and non-technical end users/vendors.
  • Strong working knowledge of software deployment in an enterprise environment.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience as a systems administrator with demonstrated expertise working in an enterprise IT environment, supporting large-scale networks, systems, and applications and at least 3 years in an IT support capacity.
