Description
The Talent Acquisition Specialist will play a key role in the HR department, focusing on two primary areas: the review and management of foreign national background checks for research roles (including grad students) and conducting Fair Market Value (FMV) analysis for physician compensation. This role will also be responsible for managing the contract relationship and deliverables with the FMV vendor, Sullivan Cotter, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
The Talent Acquisition Specialist will work closely with immigration, legal, research compliance, and the talent team to ensure that both foreign national candidates and physician compensation packages align with institutional guidelines, industry standards, and legal requirements.
Please note that all Talent Acquisition Specialists will be required to learn and perform each other's roles within the team to ensure backup coverage and seamless support during absences or high-volume periods.
Key Responsibilities:
* Foreign National Background Checks for Research Roles:
* Conduct comprehensive reviews of foreign national background checks for research roles, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations (e.g., research ethics, etc.).
* Verify foreign criminal history, education credentials, professional certifications, and previous work history to assess qualifications for research positions.
* Review and analyze resumes/CVs of foreign national candidates to confirm academic and professional qualifications.
* Ensure academic degrees and certifications from international institutions are properly verified and meet the institution's standards.
* Validate prior research contributions, including publications, grants, and clinical trials, and ensure they meet institutional research criteria.
* Collaborate with immigration and legal teams to ensure that foreign national candidates have the appropriate work authorization and visas (e.g., J-1, H-1B, O-1) to be employed in research roles.
* Work with the immigration team to ensure that contracts for foreign national researchers, including compensation and responsibilities, comply with applicable immigration laws and institutional guidelines.
* Coordinate with the Office of Research Compliance to ensure that hiring foreign nationals for research roles does not violate any laws.
* FMV Analysis for Physician Compensation:
* Conduct FMV analysis to determine appropriate compensation packages for physicians, ensuring alignment with industry standards and institutional benchmarks.
* Collaborate with compensation consultants (e.g., Sullivan Cotter) to analyze market data and ensure compensation packages align with market trends for both clinical and academic activities.
* Review physician compensation packages to ensure they align with FMV guardrails, institutional guidelines, and compliance regulations.
* Provide data-driven recommendations on physician compensation to ensure competitive and fair compensation structures.
* Contract and Vendor Management:
* Manage the contract relationship with FMV vendors, such as Sullivan Cotter, ensuring deliverables are met and within budget.
* Coordinate with the Talent Acquisition Manager to oversee and manage the background check process for graduate student applicants, ensuring compliance with institutional policies.
* Assist in managing the overall relationship with external vendors related to background checks and FMV analysis, ensuring that services meet the needs of the health center and remain within budget.
* Additional duties as assigned by Talent Acquisition Manager.
Qualifications
The applicant must meet one of the following:
* Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
* At least 3 years of experience in talent acquisition, HR, or related roles, with a focus on compliance and background checks.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in conducting FMV analysis for physician or healthcare compensation preferred.
* Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to foreign national employees and research compliance.
* Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and work with external vendors.
* Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage contracts and vendor relationships.
