Job Description:

Great Western Trailer (GWT) is immediately hiring full-time Tank Technician to service semi-trailers in our Oklahoma City, OK location. As a Tank Technician, you will inspect, repair, and maintain tanks in accordance with the Department of Transportation and ASTM regulations.

Tank Mechanics can expect any of the following responsibilities:

Inspect, Service and Repair:

* Tanks and trailers with efficiency and effectively to align with FHWA, FMCSA, DOT HM183, and hazmat standards.

* Pneumatic and hydraulic control systems; Product pumps and piping; Suspension and wheel end repair.

* Various overfill Systems (Scully, Civacon, Flotech, Titan logix, and Garnett).

* Air brake lines, couplers, tanks, valves, sensors, dome lids, shoes, drums, pads and rotors; services, adjusts and/or replaces components where necessary.

* Low voltage wiring couplers, harnesses, lights, batteries, and charging systems; services, adjusts and/or replaces components where necessary.

* Chassis rails, side-shell, caps, doors, retainers, fasteners, floors and plates for damage or defect.

* Sheet metal and paint work to finish; minor mechanical; troubleshoot electrical and lighting.

* Preventative Maintenance on trailers of all types.

Installation, Welding and Fabrication:

* Install add-on components and accessories including but not limited to toolboxes, pumping systems, ladders, and bracketry.

* Performs aluminum, steel MIG & TIG welding and fabrication, occasionally in confined spaces.

* Performs metal fabrication and wood carpentry tasks to repair/replace and custom fabrication of hydraulic pump systems.

* Ability to obtain company weld test certification.

* Wreck repairs.

Quality checks and reporting:

* Prepares Mechanic's Service Report.

* Completes FHWA and/or HM 183 Testing Paperwork.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Minimum 1 year experience servicing Tank vehicles

* Lift or move up to 50 lbs.

* Owns a personal set of hand tools.

* Broad knowledge of semi-trailer equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance; current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems.

* Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in fabrication and welding; make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands in order to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.

* Ability to follow logical troubleshooting procedures, manufacturer and company installation and service guidelines to ensure quality work.

* Ability to maintain all company equipment, tools, and work areas in a good, clean, and working order.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* 3 years' experience servicing Tank vehicles

* Tank, ASE or other industry-recognized certifications.

* Bilingual Spanish a plus.

* Welding certification.

* Ability to work overtime as needed.

Must operate equipment such as phone, computer, fork truck, yard goat, hand tools, welding equipment and refrigerated trailers.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Exposure to working near moving mechanical parts, in high precarious places, with toxic or caustic chemicals; fumes or airborne particles, extremes in temperature and environmental conditions. Usually moderate to loud noise levels. Potential risk of electrical shock. May work in a shop or yard or out of a mobile service vehicle.
