Tasks and Work Activities - a guide but not limited to
- Interpret specifications on blueprints assigned projects
- Plan layout; install and repair wiring and electrical components such as switches, circuit breakers, and fuse boxes
- Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment
- Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures
- Perform physically demanding tasks, such as laying conduit, and moving and lifting heavy objects
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety of the system
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
- Place conduit, pipes, or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
- Adhere to production schedules and work hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
- Ensure parts and materials are ordered, received, stored appropriately, and inspected for quality before installation
- Ensure proper transfer of equipment and material between job locations
- Load tools, equipment, and materials into vehicles for each project; maintain vehicle inventory
- Safely and legally operate vehicles to and from job sites.
- Keep up-to-date technically and apply new knowledge to projects
- Initiate or suggest ideas to achieve work goals
- Maintain current electrician's license to meet governmental regulations.
- Mentor co-workers in good quality workmanship
- Confer with others to coordinate work activities
- Analyze and resolve work problems or assist co-workers in solving work problems
- Ensure company policies and procedures are followed
- Demonstrate thorough familiarity with a current client, company, and OSHA safety requirements
- Professionally communicate with clients, facilities managers, and co-workers
- Record and maintain accurate records of materials used, daily logs, time, mileage, and another project specific documentation
- Communicate project progress, forecast project needs, and foresee change orders or potential obstacles
- Complete work in a timely fashion, with integrity, attention to detail
Required Applicant Qualifications
- Valid and current New Mexico Journeyman Electrician License
- Valid and current New Mexico Driver's License
- Prior Conventional Electric experience
- Ability to perform advance electrical calculations, understanding of wire & conduit sizing
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, layouts, and equipment manuals
- High level of understanding of current NEC and IBC
- Experience with safe use of ladders, roof work, PPE, & hand tools
- Ability to make decisions & think resourcefully
- Ability to GIVE direction and to TAKE direction
- Ability to work as a team
- Ability to use various computer applications / understanding of technology.
- Ability to forecast potential project issues, communicate them to co-workers, and take an intuitive in resolving
- Ability to professionally communicate with a diverse population
- Must have reliable transportation to work
Physical requirements
- Proven ability to repeatedly lift, carry, and walk with up to 40 pounds of tools and or equipment.
- Ability to operate hand tools (wrenches, drill, hammer, etc.) safely
- Ability to work in a squatting, standing, twisted, and stretched position
- Ability to climb ladders, work on roofs safely, and walk on uneven surfaces
