Sleepy Creek Vineyards is a small but growing winery and vineyard that is looking for an ambitious person that can help us continue to grow. This is a part-time, entry-level position.Must have a fun and outgoing personality. This is for a weekend position (Friday evenings, Saturday, and Sunday). Must also like animals and have a sense of humor. Experience of wine knowledge a plus but not necessary for the right person if self-motivated, have a good attitude and professionalism. Must be willing and able to learn and pay attention to detail. Excellent oral communication, customer service, and presentation skills. Must be of legal age 21 plus and willing to acquire Basset and Food Handler certifications.Wage / Salary: $10 Plus TipsDuties / Responsibilities: This position is part-time weekday evenings and weekends.Greets all visitors of Sleepy Creek Vineyards, pours wines for tastings, discusses wine and responds to customer questions as appropriate.Help organize and make things aesthetically neat and clean in the tasting room and office.Strong verbal and written skills with the ability to converse with individuals as well as speak in front of groups.Accuracy with sales transactions and inventory.Willingness to work weekdays, weekends, evenings and flexible schedules is required.Must love pets.Creating an enjoyable, memorable guest experience by greeting, guiding and engaging guests, as well as educating and performing wine tastings and providing excellent customer service while presenting a casual but professional and friendly manner to guests.Promoting and completing the sale of wine and non-wine products, events and services.Maintaining inventory and maintaining/creating retail displays and store signage.Taking initiative in becoming thoroughly versed in the wines of Sleepy Creek Vineyards and Illinois wine, knowledge of wine tasting basics, of other wines, regions, terms, spellings and pronunciations.Developing required knowledge of the operations as Sleepy Creek, including grape growing and wine manufacturing.Complying with all laws regulating the sale of alcohol, including following procedures for the movement of alcohol and maintaining accurate alcohol records and inventory.Conducting opening operations, sale transactions and end of day closing operations.Being a reliable, trustworthy team member with a sense of humor.Ensuring work areas are clean, neat and stocked. Cleaning, stocking and maintaining the public areas.Working well with others and assisting in the training of permanent, seasonal staff and volunteers on policies and procedures, effectively communicate changes and ensure compliance.Working with owners to promote Sleepy Creek Vineyards events and maintain signage, wine lists, develop strategic plans and ideas for growth and success.Other duties as assigned. Days per week: WeekendsShift: OtherQualifications: Two-year college degree a plus.1+ year of retail experience a plus.Must love engaging people.A friendly and outgoing personality, self-motivated, capable of multitasking.Experience with customer service skill preferably in food beverage services, sales/retail, hospitality or a tourism-related business.Experience in wine knowledge a plus but not necessary. However, applicant must have an interest and/or be willing to learn about wine and develop wine appreciation.Strong verbal and written skills with the ability to converse with individuals as well as speak in front of groups.Must be at least 21 years of age (of legal drinking age) and willing to acquire Basset and Food Handler certifications.Must be able to work weekends, nights and holidays.Ability to work a flexible schedule that meets the needs of the business, including events, holidays, evenings and weekends.Interpersonal awareness, relationship and conflict management and influencing skills.Availability to open and close the Winery.Taking initiative, ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision.Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.Ability to multi-task. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to lift and move 35 pounds repeatedly (a case of wine).Ability to continuously stand/walk; frequently push/pull; occasionally bend/stoop/crawl/reach above shoulders/kneel; climb a ladder.Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.Ability to effectively stock wine, set-up and break down procedures, equipment, etc.Degree Requirements: High School/Associate Degree#J-18808-Ljbffr
