Job Description Summary

Here at Oak Farm Vineyards, we are searching for an energetic and enthusiastic person to lead our tasting room and staff as a full-time employee. This person will have the position of the business to act as a liaison between the customers, distributors, suppliers and other stake holders. The Tasting Room Manager must be able to juggle many responsibilities at once. They need to ensure that the tasting room is well-stocked with product, clean and presentable to visitors. They also need to manage staffing schedules, training, customer service issues, inventory tracking, marketing and more. This ideal candidate will posse previous hospitality experience and superior customer service skill sets. This positions require a professional, articulate and friendly demeanor while exhibiting a strong commitment to providing our guest with the best experience possible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the tasting room is running smoothly and efficiently at all times
  • Train and Manage a team of tasting room staff, including but not limited to: Tasting Room Lead, Tasting Room Host, Food Lead and Event Manager
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the tasting room
  • Work Closely with the production team to ensure that all wine is up to standard and ready for tasting
  • Organize quarterly meeting with staff for updates on tastings to new wines and protocols
  • Work with the Events Manager to coordinate the events and private parties taking place in the tasting room
  • Work closely with the Food Lead to ensure that customers are being taken care of and being properly checked in
  • Work closely with the Food Lead to ensure that both food servers and tasting room employees are doing tasks properly, efficiently and that all protocols of opening and closing tasks are being done properly
  • Manage inventory of wine, glassware and other supplies
  • Ensure all sales and transactions are processed in an accurate and timely manner
  • Keep abreast of industry news and developments and share relevant information with staff
  • Communicate with managers all pertinent information
  • Attend trade shows and other industry events as needed
  • Work with the Food Lead and Events Manager to ensure all aspects of the business run smoothly
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by upper management

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality, business or related field
  • 5 years or more management experience in a wine tasting room, restaurant, or similar customer service environment
  • Proven ability to drive sales through effective leadership
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to take and pass the following trainings:
  • Sexual Harassment Prevention training for Managers
  • Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Training Program
  • California Food Handlers Card, if applicable
  • Preferred Skills and Qualifications

    • Customer Service expertise
    • Inventory Management proficiency
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Experience with POS systems and wine club software
    • Working knowledge of state and federal liquor laws
    • Familiarity with social media platforms and marketing tools
    • Self-starter and positive team player
