Tax Director

Talento has partnered with a publicly traded organization with recently relocated headquarters on a search for a Tax Director. This role involves overseeing the preparation of U.S. federal and state tax compliance, managing various tax-related projects, and leading a team in optimizing the organization's tax profile. The position requires interaction with tax authorities, external advisors, and internal teams to ensure accurate tax reporting and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate tax compliance processes, including U.S. federal and state returns and transfer pricing.
  • Prepare quarterly statutory and GAAP tax provision workpapers.
  • Conduct tax research on diverse tax issues (e.g., federal and state income tax, sales tax).
  • Prepare tax footnotes for audited financial statements.
  • Supervise ancillary tax filings such as sales tax and foreign VAT.
  • Manage external tax and legal advisors on tax-related projects.
  • Interact with tax authorities for information requests and audits.
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax payments and reporting.
  • Communicate relevant tax matters to senior management.
  • Lead internal tax projects and address customer tax-related inquiries.
  • Stay updated on tax principles and their relevance to the organization.
  • Lead tax planning initiatives and manage the tax teams performance and development.
  • Analyze and maintain tax-related general ledger accounts.
  • Oversee payroll and benefits accounting.
  • Manage the tax department's budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in taxation (Masters degree preferred).
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
  • 8-12 years of tax-related experience, with 4-6 years in corporate taxation.
  • Experience in corporate federal and state tax preparation and ASC 740 corporate tax provision.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and tax research skills.
  • Ability to multitask and deliver accurate work during peak periods.
  • Proficiency in tax software, Word, Excel, and internet-based research tools.
  • Familiarity with U.S. federal, state, and international tax principles.
