Job Description:Tax Manager - Controversy Services Mazars USA is hiring - If you are looking for a career where you can truly have a say, make an impact, and be valued, Mazars is the right place for you!Our Tax practice seeks an experienced Attorney with a LL.M. in Taxation whose focus has been in research and resolution of tax law and tax matters related to individual, corporate, trusts & estates, domestic and international taxation issues, to join our Tax Controversy Services team as a Tax Manager. In this position you will be part of an experienced team of tax law professionals who are committed to resolving clients' federal tax controversies and tax matters, by providing clients with in-depth knowledge of current IRS practices and procedures. Our Tax Controversy professionals work to resolve a wide variety of issues with the IRS and are well-versed in achieving the best possible outcomes on behalf of our clients. Our professionals are knowledgeable and experienced in dealings with the IRS, Treasury executives, counsel, appeals officers, and revenue agents. This is a national position. The preferred location for this position is our New York office. However, the position can take place in any Mazars office with a U.S. location. Our firm also offers flexible work hours and location: both in office and hybrid.What You Will Do:
  • Plan and execute tax examinations in support of assigned clients
  • Through interpretation of tax laws, help resolve clients tax issues related to their individual, corporate, trusts & estates, domestic and international tax matters
  • Prepare written responses to governmental authorities and represent clients to the best of your ability
  • Provide dispute resolution services to clients with respect to all types of tax issues.
  • Assist clients with all tax related matters and disputes, including correspondences with IRS
  • Serve as liaison between firm Tax Partners and client leadership
  • Prepare internal and external tax alerts on new tax laws to benefit tax staff and clients
  • Participate in client proposals and new business development opportunities
What We Seek:
  • Years of experience required: 6+ years of relevant work experience in tax research, tax resolution and tax computations is required
  • Education required: Advanced tax degree (JD; LLM, MST) is preferred
  • Certification required/preferred: A licensed attorney is required
  • Prior tax research experience in a public accounting firm, the IRS, the Treasury Department, a law firm, or other relevant tax industry experience
  • Subject Matter Expert in tax controversy matters that impact clients' tax position
  • Ability to balance multiple assignments and other responsibilities while meeting prescribed deadlines
  • Demonstrated success in pursuit of business development
  • Experience managing a book of business preferred but not required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Excellent research and writing skills, including demonstrated success with written responses to governmental authorities
  • Ability to travel to client locations as needed

  • The salary range for this role takes into account many factors including, but not limited to, years and type of experience, skill sets, and certifications. The projected salary range for this position is $104,000 - $218,000.
