While this role will be supporting clients out of the Muskegon office, our client is open to candidates working from Grand Rapids (must be willing to travel to Muskegon for client meetings). This role involves overseeing client services related to tax preparation and planning (for both individuals and businesses) and accounting services. The ideal candidate will independently review tax returns, provide constructive feedback to staff, communicate effectively with clients, and identify tax planning opportunities in collaboration with leadership.Key Responsibilities:
- Review and finalize individual and business income tax returns prepared by staff.
- Oversee accounting services for clients, including financial statement preparation and/or compilation.
- Communicate effectively with clients, the IRS, and other professionals as needed.
- Adhere to standard operating procedures and best practices.
- Conduct tax research and remain current on changes in tax laws.
- Identify errors, omissions, and planning opportunities from prior-year documentation, draft returns, and client-provided information.
- Manage engagement budgets and billing processes.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to preparers and staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Active CPA or EA license.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in public accounting. Willing to consider a Senior title for more experienced candidates.
- Experience signing individual and/or business tax returns is a plus.
- Familiarity with UltraTax, SurePrep, Accounting CS, and QuickBooks (online or desktop) is preferred but not required.
