Location: Seattle,WA, USA

Job Description:

Join the R.D. Barnett Team as a Tax Senior!

At R.D. Barnett, we are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Tax Senior with a strong individual and trusts/estates background to become an integral part of our dynamic tax team. This role will primarily focus on providing comprehensive tax compliance and advisory services to a diverse clientele. You will collaborate closely with fellow CPAs and staff members, ensuring our clients' tax needs are met efficiently and accurately, all while fostering strong relationships built on trust and transparency.

In this position, you will quickly take on client assignments, with the opportunity for hands-on experience and professional growth from day one. Our culture thrives on authentic connections, mutual respect, and a commitment to supporting one another in our endeavors.

As we grow, what is needed today will be different from what is needed tomorrow; therefore, you will need to maintain flexibility with regard to initial and future responsibilities. Within this role, there is the opportunity for expansion of duties and title based on work ethic and contributions made to the firm. We do not expect you to know all of the answers, but we do expect you to proactively problem-solve and form sensible solutions. To excel at our firm and to find lasting satisfaction in doing so, you will exhibit these qualities:

  • Communicative: You are a confident and transparent communicator in every aspect with expert written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Organized: You know how to keep track of multiple projects, tasks, documents, and files, follow up on loose ends, and can readily locate a document or provide a status update.
  • Service-minded: You demonstrate a desire to deliver a superior customer experience and you don't mind taking out the trash, both literally and figuratively.
  • Trustworthy: You have a high level of integrity, discretion, and good judgement, and you guard sensitive information more effectively than 256-bit encryption.
  • Self-motivated: You don't need to be told to get things done and are confident in your ability to do some research to find an answer rather than simply asking for it.
  • Accountable: You understand that we're all human and you are not afraid to own up to your mistakes, which you use as an opportunity to learn and grow.
  • Proactive: You're always one step ahead because you're an analytical thinker and can anticipate potential problems and needs, allowing you to be more efficient and provide better solutions.
  • Detail-oriented: You have impeccable documentation skills, a sharp eye, and never let anything slip through the cracks.
  • Flexible: You embrace change and are easily adaptable in a challenging, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and enjoy learning new things.
  • Enthusiastic: You are a team player with a positive attitude who can take the work seriously but do it with a sense of humor.

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Overseeing tax compliance and preparation for primarily individuals and affiliated trusts.
  • Conducting thorough tax research and offering strategic planning advice.
  • Reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of tax filings, including federal and state.
  • Collaborating with clients and team members to deliver exceptional results.
  • Managing and mentoring junior staff as they grow in their roles.

Required Qualifications:

  • CPA license or CPA eligible with 3+ years of public accounting experience, including tax return preparation and review.
  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related degree and/or an advanced degree in Accounting or Taxation.
  • Ability to work up to 60 hours during peak periods.
  • References from prior employers/supervisors/clients.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary: $75,000-$100,000.
  • Casual office environment.
  • 15 Vacation days.
  • 10 Holidays (7 scheduled and 3 floating).
  • 40 Hours sick leave.
  • 2 Paid volunteer days.
  • 3% Retirement match.
  • Medical and dental benefits.
  • Cell phone coverage.
  • Certification, licensing, and professional membership reimbursement.
  • Continuing education and growth opportunities.

*Preference is a local hire in the Seattle area as we love seeing people at least occasionally in the office, but we are flexible and have remote team members!
