About the JobThe Patient Account Representative is responsible for answering inbound calls from patients and answer any questions regarding their bill. They will ensure a professional, pleasurable, and remarkable patient experience. Position will also perform insurance verification prior to the patient's date of service to provide each practice with patient's eligibility.
- Answer inbound patient calls to provide information and answers to any questions about their bill for all AEG practices
- Take ownership of each call to ensure patients fully understand current bill
- Review and understand patient transactions in point of sale and billing systems
- Review and understand patient explanation of benefits (EOBs) and insurance explanation of payments (EOPs)
- Review and understand patient benefit summary sheets and insurance payer web portals
- Take patient payments
- Checking voice mails for any messages and returning calls to patients
- Work with practice appointment scheduler to identify and resolve insurance appointments missing benefit information
- Identify and escalate situations as appropriate to the correct department
- Make recommendations for efficiencies, processes, etc. which will help deliver quality, cost savings, and profitability improvements within the department
Requirements
- High School or GED
- Prior insurance billing/claims experience
- Prior Customer Service experience a plus
- Prior optical experience a plus
- Experience in a call center environment helpful
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment requiring multi-tasking and frequent redefining of priorities
- Basic PC skills to include MS office, Windows, Word, and Excel
- Demonstrate the ability to work successfully in a team environment, functioning for the good of the team over the individual
- Able to work a flexible schedule including Saturdays. Schedule based on call volume to accommodate the needs of the business
