Greater Binghamton Health Center, Children and Youth is recruiting a Teacher to provide educational instruction to individuals with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.Minimum Qualifications: Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they meet any of the following:Teacher 2 - Current New York State Education Department initial certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.Teacher 3 - Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.Teacher 4 - Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty and 2 years of post-certification (initial or permanent/professional) teaching experience in that same specialty. ORCandidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on a current Teacher eligible list.ORCandidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.Duties Description As a Teacher, you will teach elementary, secondary, or special subjects including• Preparing course and unit outlines, lesson plans, and individual education plans• Evaluating and documenting individuals' performance and progress • Collaborating with treatment team to work toward treatment goals and objectivesRequirements for Continued Employment: Possession of a permanent/professional or provisional/ initial New York State certificate in Students with Disabilities/Special Education is necessary for continued employment. Loss of certification will result in termination of employment.
