To create a flexible instructional program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students assigned to the classroom, to motivate pupils to develop attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for secondary education, in accordance with each pupil's ability; to establish good relationships with other staff members.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Models lessons for students. 2.Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students 3.Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students 4.Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of Principal 5.Encourage students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior 6.Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects to communicate these objectives to students 7.Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved 8.Strive to implement by instruction and action the districts philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives 9.Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as assigned 10.Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities 11.Assist the administration in developing reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner 12.Make provision for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms 13.Other duties as assigned Experience:
  • Working with culturally, diverse parents and families in a rural educational setting
  • Collaborating with community agencies
  • Serving effectively in a collaborative team setting
Education:
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree inan applicable field
  • Major, or 24 semester hours, in subject area to be taught
  • Passing score on Praxis II Test in subject area to be taught (Must have alreadypassed Praxis II prior to being considered for employment)
  • Must possess a valid Mississippi Teaching Certificate or be eligible for a MississippiTeaching Certificate
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Possess knowledge of district policies and mandates related to parent involvement, discipline and student achievement.
  • Possess willingness to interact on a personal level with parents.
  • Demonstrate organizational skills related to all Essential Functions listed above.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to create an effective Parent Resource Center
  • Demonstrate patience and compassion with students, staff and parents in a variety of settings.
  • Develop trusting relationships with parents, teachers and students.
  • Work effectively on a team and with parents.
  • Work collaboratively with peers and others.
  • Possess knowledge of various cultures' values, behaviors, beliefs and traditions.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle
  • Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body
  • Light Work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree
Working Conditions and Environment:
  • Work is routinely performed in a typical interior/office environment
  • Very limited or no exposure to physical risk
