We are looking for a 4th and 5th Grade English/Language Arts and Social Studies teacher for the 2024-2025 school year and beyond. These are full-time teaching positions with all benefits at our K-8 school located in Akron, Ohio.Our new Elementary teachers will have the opportunity to join our team at a pivotal time as a new house system was introduced in our school as well as technology upgrades to include new 75 panel TV (smart technology) into each classroom, as well as brand new curriculum for each core subject. All students are assigned Chromebooks to be used in each classroom. Our school staff consists of K-8 classroom teachers, specials teachers (Art / PE / Health), two Intervention Specialists, two Title Reading Teachers, a Title Mather Teacher, and Curriculum Coach. All the support every elementary school teacher looks for in a new job opportunity.Our Elementary School Teachers are responsible for delivering high quality instruction so students are at or above grade level in math, reading, social studies, and science. They plan, prepare, and deliver lessons with rigor and relevance. Additionally, they create and analyze formative and summative assessments to differentiate instruction, inform programming, and accommodate individual student and whole group needs.Qualifications:
- Current state teaching license in appropriate content area preferred.
- Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards.
- Preferred two years' experience teaching with classroom management experience.
- High level of comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
- High quality written and verbal communication skills.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook
- Ability to properly manage confidential information.
- Ability to supervise students in all school settings, including in a classroom, on playground or in another play setting, in a meal room, and/or transitioning between any of these settings.
- Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
- Experience working in a multi-cultural setting preferred..
- Create daily lesson plans that are engaging, educational and exciting for the kids, encouraging them to want to come to school.
- Display classroom management ability.
- Must take a BCI & FBI background record check / Licensure K-3 or K-8 / Substitute License would be accepted.
- Deliver lesson plans in a way that catches the attention of the students and keeps them occupied and excited about learning.
- Reach school and course-wide performance goals for every student in class.
- Grade papers and homework regularly to keep students updated on how they are doing and to head any problems off before they become habit.
- Increase educational knowledge and stay up to date on new methods by joining professional organizations, attending continuing education courses and attending regular training sessions for teachers.
