We're thrilled to announce a full-time, long-term opportunity for a Special Education Behavior Aide starting in August for the 2024/2025 school year! This role is ideal for those passionate about working with K-12 students in the East County San Diego region.

Role Overview:As a Behavior Aide/Paraprofessional, you'll be essential in helping classroom teachers by working closely with special education students, both individually and in small groups, to enhance their academic journey. Your contributions will have a significant positive impact on these children's growth and development.

  • Competitive hourly rate of $21-$24, paid weekly

  • Consistent Monday to Friday schedule

  • No weekend work required

  • Typical hours: 8am to 2:30/3pm, for a total of 30-35 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Behavioral Support: Implement and monitor behavioral intervention plans (BIPs), provide positive reinforcement, and apply de-escalation techniques as needed.

  • Individualized Support: Offer tailored, one-on-one or small group support to students with special needs, customizing materials and strategies to fit their unique requirements.

  • Classroom Assistance: Collaborate with teachers to manage classroom behaviors, foster student engagement, and create an inclusive learning environment.

  • Data Collection: Accurately track and record student progress, behaviors, and interventions to inform the special education team.

  • Communication: Establish and maintain strong relationships with teachers, parents, and school staff to ensure cohesive support for students.

Required Qualifications/Experience:

  • High School Diploma

  • Experience working with children

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to stay calm and patient in challenging situations

  • English proficiency

Preferred:

  • Experience in special education, particularly with moderate to severe behaviors

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Knowledge of behavioral intervention strategies

  • CPR and First Aid certification
